Post or Lose Membership?

Someone recently posted that she had received an email telling her to post or lose her membership. Could someone explain this rule in a little more detail for us relative newbees? All I remember reading in the rules was that I had a week after registration to post an introduction...
I did not that the number of members has dropped precipitously recently.
Thanks.

I remember seeing that too, but can't remember who it was. I thought they had said once you had at least one post, you were in. I even looked in the Forum Rules, but didn't see anything other than about posting your introduction.

And here I thought I was posting toooooo much.
Now, after all this time, I find out that I am REQUIRED to be annoying!

MITCH , annoying is a good shade on you.
I think it is to keep the forum fresh. Some forums seem to stagnate and eventually just die out. The more posts the more annoying we can be. Everyone should want to post so we can get to know each other. My 2 cents. Linda

Why, thank you!
My husband HATES that color on me!
He thinks I wear it far too often.
I'm not sure of the color group, but he wishes that I would wear 'be quiet' sometimes.

..Thanks, Lori! That was an interesting read.
Happily, being the yacker that I am, the issue doesn't apply to me!
(I'm quieter in person...)
Maybe you should add a rule that you can't make more than, say, 15 posts per day!
(kidding...)But I did go and remove my website address from my info.

I'm really much quieter in person also,,, can you just imagine, me and Mitch in a room together,, everyone else behind a two way mirror, thinking they're gonna get some really funny/off the wall stuff from us and we sit there twiddling our thumbs, shuffling our feet and looking at belly button lent!
I don't know why people would bother to join if they didn't want to participate, looking at my personal stuff will say how old I am and what type of work I do. Like they're gonna hire me and pay me a million bucks?
But, I know there is always potential to do harm kind of people out there!

Drinking coffee and reading posts from Mitch and Vickie causes more messes on this poor old keyboard! I LOVE to read your posts, girls, but must remind myself to swallow coffee before I open your posts! What better way to begin my day than with a good laugh! I look forward to your comments so much!
As far as posts go, many members seem to join and either can't figure out how to navigate the forum, are too shy to enter the rooms, or simply seem to lose interest, perhaps. Both forums I belong to (ORS, too) seem to have this condition. As far as I know, after the intro, no one is required to ever say anything again. However, the moderators, after looking at post 'records' and finding a lot of zeros for some members, may send them an email asking if they are still alive. Months of no responses are a concern for them, and a simple email can sometimes remind members that someone cares enough about them to ask if they are ok. At least that's how I interpret it. What's really neat about both of the forums I belong to is the lack of rules and regs----we are capable of pretty much governing ourselves. I am so happy with both of the groups.
So we can just rave on as we always do!

As Beth is in transition right now coming south from Alaska to her job at the lodge with Sparkle and Echo, I'll step up. Thanks Lori for looking up that discussion. The result of all of that was that email messages were drafted for three issues. 1. New Member Welcome,... and letting them know that posting an Intro was expected. One week. 2. Suspicious email/usernames. This is when there is a registration to join, prior to admittance. An email is sent with a few questions to help determine if it is a real person or a spammer. 3 days turnaround on that one. 3. Participation. Here is the email (Beth edited and approved final version) that goes out:
WomenRV Member:
The best way to have a successful organization is to have an active membership. You joined WomenRV some time ago and forum data shows that you have not posted in the past three months. We miss you!
If you wish to remain a member, please let us know by logging into the forum within a week of receiving this email and post on one of the topics. You may find that you have missed us, too!
If your interests have changed, that is ok, we will just delete your membership if we don’t hear from you within one week. (If you wish to continue your membership but were traveling and find your membership has been discontinued please email us and we will re-instate you.)
Thank you,
WomenRV Admin
As you can see it is done in a positive tone. Several members have emailed back saying they'd changed computers, or something, and had lost password. I've re-set their passwrod and helped them get back on the forum. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding. the purpose is really to help get members get back into the circle of friendship, not delete people.
You should also know that there were quite a few email addresses that came up as spammers. They were deleted immediately. Clever folks they are,... can really look real at first glance!
