More Storms

We had yet another thunderstorm last night. Several branches came down that were weakened by the BIG storm in May but thankfully no damage. I just received a check from our insurance company yesterday for that one. The two little dogs wanted in bed with their MOM, glad my big Poodle Charley is brave! Everyone is a lot more nervous when they give storm warnings now, there are so many homes are still waiting for repairs. Heard one roofer had a list of 1300 homes waiting.
The good news is it is supposed to be a much cooler weekend! I hope to check out a few of the new wineries. There has been major money spent in building big beautiful facilities. Several are more of an event and party place with entertainment almost nightly. My 92 year old step-mother has been advised by her chiropractor (she doesn't do doctors) to drink a glass of red wine every day. Her son, a non-drinker bought her a bottle of Mogen David and she hates it, I told her I would take her to a wine tasting and she could pick out one that would taste much better.

raining here, but very lightly and gently. Sure hope you aren't going to be plagued with more storms and damage. Good luck buying the wine,... sounds like an adventure!

Well, I'm not a wine drinker, much, I actually hate it unless I have some 7-UP or Sprite to put in it, I know OMG from everyone, I can hear it now. Hommie is the wine expert, gets magazines and stuff  My sister likes different kinds of wine too, but what I was gonna say, was that there is a Mogan David Blackberry wine that the stores only had at Christmas time (don't know why) but my niece went to the store to buy a bottle because they had tasted it and liked it. There was some guy with a shopping cart FULL, he had taken every single bottle off the shelf because he couldn't get it any other time. When he found out that she was there looking for it he gave her a bottle out of his cart  Like I said, I'll drink it with a mix, but not plain, it's pretty good.

I think I'd rather throw myself on a Samurai sword before I'd drink Mogen David, and I'm not even Japanese.
Now, sake, on the other hand...

More Storms???? Ernie gets stormy over wine preferences....  Since he retired from the PLCB he's our "expert"....and I agree Mogan David is not what I would get....but I've been trained.... ;) White Zin...is a good choice when starting out....I'm up to "Crisp White" and Pinot Grez....(abrv. as I can't spell it.... ) and for a red, I like Chianti.... along those lines....Hey, those of you who are coming to the PA GTG we plan a trip to 1or 2 local winerys ....good ones....Just adding my 2 cents.....

FYI.....at 18, my favorite was "Strawberry Hill"....

Well, as a nice Jewish girl  I have to say that Mogan David is what was served at all the meals during the High Holy Days and other holidays at our house and friends. After the toasts, et al, we switched to the real stuff. It certainly won't win any awards, but bringing it up sure brought some great memories.

more storms? holy moly, we need some storms, this has been the quietest monsoon
season we've had down here in the desert. NOTHING! I love a good storm, although
the dogs are not too crazy over the idea, but whats a little storm when its gone in
a half an hour
When I was a kid, the wine was Ripple, and Boonesfarm and I do remember Strawberry
Hill as well. But now that I've been forced to "grow up" I'd go for a nice Zin, white or
rose, doesn't matter and the Chianti is pretty yummy too.

I can't stand a dry wine so I make my own and everyone raves about it.

Carold, you beat me to it. Growing up we always had Mogan David or another brand equally as horrible during the holidays.. I think it's the reason I;m not much of a drinker. I always associate that taste. For me it's the same with tea. My mother would always make us drink tea when we were sick, so that's how I think of tea. Linda
