Glad I kept the RV (was there any doubt?)

After a whole six months of living in a---house---I'm planning to get back on the road the end of the year. Well, actually next weekend, to be exact. Figured that since Oklahoma is so close to Dayton, Ohio, I'm driving the motorhome 700 miles there to see my brother and his family whom I haven't seen in a long time. There are new spouses and kids I've never seen. After a week there, it will be back to Amazon.com up in Coffeyville, KS to work from Aug. 30 through Dec. 23. This time I WILL NOT be working as a picker and walking (stumbling?) 7-10 miles each night. Instead, I've requested something in shipping or receiving instead. Can't turn down the chance to make quite a bit of money in a short period of time. Bought some expensive MBT shoes and love them. Got to get used to them being kind of heavy, though. Since Coffeyville is so close to Bartlesville, OK, I'll park the RV there in the campground and drive back and forth for my three days off - check on things here and so forth. Quite a few friends from last year are also returning, so it will be fun.

After that, I'm hitting the road back to Blythe, CA to stay at Mayflower County Park for a number of months. Can't beat the price of $250/month for a beautiful grassy site with hookups and honey wagon, right on the Colorado River and about 10 miles from Quartzsite, AZ. And, Blythe is close enough to San Diego to visit old friends and relatives once in a while as well. Yeah, it's probably a bit warm there now, but should be beautiful in the winter. And, it's a DRY heat, not the 97% humidity as here the past few mornings. I'm also missing the ocean. Guess it's that old Southern California saltwater in my veins.

Oklahoma has been an interesting experience - lots of good friends and some wonderful volunteer work--I'll miss that very much. But, not the politics, not the weather, and not all the bugs. However, I will miss my inexpensive Oklahoma health insurance.

Sounds like a great plan. You never know, so it's a good thing you kept your options open. Looking forward to posts as you travel. carold

Sounds like a great plan. So far, I can't even imagine moving back into my house. Even if I don't travel much I like living in an RV park - no yard work and lots to do.

I feel like singing Willy Nelson's "On the road again"........I just can't wait to get
on the road again....I'll be going to bed with that jingle in my head. Will be good
to see pics and posts of your road trip.

Well, I've never driven to Ohio so am looking forward to seeing some good stuff along the way. I'm actually going to Lewisburg, which is a little west of Dayton. But, I can never remember that name for some reason. But, Camera will sit in the front seat.

Yep,.. once an addict, always an addict when it comes to RVs. I'm so glad you kept it and now you can continue to enjoy it. But trying out that house and comm unity was a good thing to get off your mind. Take care and safe travels!

It sounds like you have a plan. At least you tried it and don't always have to wonder. Did you end up buying the house, or just rent? (Too much work for the gray cells to look it up.) Good luck on the new chapter of your life. Keep us posted. Linda

Chris,
If you have spare time from visiting your family I'd still love to meet you somewhere for lunch or dinner. Lima is about 80 miles north of Dayton - we could meet halfway if you want.

Kelpie, that would be fun. My brother actually lives in Lewisburg. NW of Dayton - about 84 miles from Lima. Since I'll only have the RV this trip and not the pickup, it would be good to meet somewhere halfway. I've never been there so will trust your judgment about a good place to meet. Looking forward to it!

Chris
