saving bookmarks or favorite links

Postby avalen » Fri Aug 07, 2009 7:25 pm

although I can copy my entire favorites list and save it on top of my desktop
as a pdf file, I prefer to save them in an email to myself and then the email
I save on aol. Don't know if other internets let you do this. I copy and paste
all my very favorite and important ones into one email. It also helps me if
I'm on some other computer where I can't access my favorites list but I can
access saved or old email. Have saved myself a headache on many occassion.

Hey Ava, thanks for the reminder about this chore! Now I am safe if something unspeakable happens.

Ava, I knew we kept you around for something!! It never occurred to me to do that. I know when I was getting a new desktop I made sure and did the email of aol favorites to myself, just in case there was a problem with the transfer, but never thought about doing it as a regular thing just for safe keeping. Do you do it at regular intervals, say once a month or quarter to cover additions to your saved sites?

I tend to save alot of links to favorites so it does get pretty full and I go through
and clean house but sometimes I'm afraid to loose the link so I just save it in an
email before I delete it. I have folders marked research and folders marked read later.
Its those read later ones that get me  you know, don't have time to read it now, but
I'll read it later

I do a similar thing, although I use a thumb drive. I do the EXPORT command and copy to my thumb drive. Occasionally I clean house on my bookmarks and then copy an updated version to my personal info thumb drive, deleting the older version. I hadn't thought of the email idea. Thanks! I like that for when I'm on a different computer and my thumb drive is home on my desk. :D
