MY FRESH-PICKED SUPPER

I just picked these yummy-looking raspberries right outside the door of my screen porch. Thanks, to the camera, I spotted that little worm on one of them that I promptly removed! (I always pick over the wild raspberries before I eat them or put them into something, as they always tend to be somewhat buggy. Some also have huge seeds which I remove.) I am putting these into some fat-free thick and creamy raspberry yogurt for my lunch.

I so do love all these wild fruits that I have on my property----no tending to any of them----just picking and eating! I have never, ever done a thing to either my lawns or my berry bushes, other than just mow the lawn. When we moved in here in 1977, there was no grass----just wirebrush (Spirea bushes) and tons of weedy, stiff things growing all around the house. Nobody had ever lived here after it was built, so it was truly just grown-up hay fields all around it. I bought a heavy-duty walk-behind mower and just began mowing down all the stiff bushes as often as possible. Eventually, they died and grass began growing. I never had to plant any seeds, cultivate, weed, or ANYTHING....it has always amazed me! I do have to cut back the raspbery bushes now and then, and have been known to uproot them when they begin to get out of hand! That's a very OUCHY job! Here are three pics I took just now.

Hope you all are having a great day----I am still waiting for the porta-potty man to deliver mine.

yum, yum, don't know if I'd ever have enough to sit down and eat for a meal, I think I'd just stand at the bush and eat ;)

 I miss my raspberry bushes and I don't think they will grow here in the heat,
but, I did find out blueberries will grow here and I'm planning on getting some
next fall, they are dwarf and grow in large patio pots, so I can hardly wait. Have
the big pots all ready :P
