MY NEW TOY CAME TODAY!!!!

My new cordless electric chainsaw arrived today! I also have a new charger and stronger battery arriving for it soon. As I already have an entire cordless tool kit of Ryobi tools and two NiCad batteries and charger, I decided to go with this saw. As you can see, I am VERY happy with it, so far! My new charger and batteries will be ionic type, so I will then have 3 batteries that I can use for all my tools.
I will be able to take this saw with me in the Kicker to clear the trails from blowdown. All I will need is a can of chain oil and the batteries. It is very light----about 6 pounds----and, although it takes quite a while to cut compared to a gasoline chainsaw, it's so easy to pack and handle! I cut through this log of firewood in about 2 minutes, or less. YIPPEE! A ray of sunshine for this dreary, cold day!
My first cut!
I even put it together correctly this morning when it arrived! It has the largest blade of other cordless models I looked at---10"----and I am glad I went with this model and brand.

I love power tools also. I always wanted to take shop in high school, but girls were not allowed. We could only take home ec. UGH! Less power, lighter weight will still get the job done. Be careful just the same. It looks like a great tool. Linda

I'm taking a lunch break on a beautiful lake - in a campsite I could stay at - but probably will drive on a bit. Too bad cuz this one is free. But decided to read a few posts - and couldn't help but read this one, Soos. Don't we all want to know what someone else has for toys! Now, my blog isn't up-to-date - but when it is - you'll be seeing pictures of some beautiful chain saw wood carvings. So Soos - we're going to want to see your talents in this regard, too

Well, Beth---you'll have a long wait for chainsaw wood carving! The most I will strive for this summer is to shape the top of a deck railing corner post after I get it installed! This little saw will be strictly utilitarian, and its main job will be view and trail clearing!
Of course, all this hinges on when my ribs/chest heal enough to actually use it!
Some of the chainsaw wood carvings I have seen are nothing short of miraculous! They can be totally beautiful and realistic. Will look forward to seeing the ones you took pics of. Happy camping! What are you using for internet connections up there?

I know it's killing you not to be able to get out and play with that toy yet! Resist the urge.
