Lenora, I just checked Good Sam Club and they have 68 chapters in Washington state, you could check on which ones are close to you at
http://www.goodsamclub.com I'm not sure of other clubs.
Edit: I am a member of Good Sam ( I like the magazine and cg discount) but not a member of any local chapter.

There are Good Sam chapters but they are too regimental for me. You have to attend a certain number of meetings (which they hold once a month) and at least a couple campouts each year. They also want you to buy and wear the chapter's vest.
I recently joined RVing Women Cascadia Chapter. More than half of them are gay and paired up, but there are straight members that travel alone. You have to join the National and then the individual chapters (as many as you want). You can join any of the events put on by other chapters around the country.
Thought I would give them a try and see how it works out.

I agree with Wicked Lady about the Good Sam chapters,... to much "organized games" for me. And very much married couples. Of course there are singles but they are in the minority. I keep a Good Sam membership for the Emergency Road Service only. I do not belong to any chapter. On the other hand RVingWomen looks like a great organization. Their website shows photos and it looks like lots of fun. If i were just starting out and didn't know people and didn't have my bluegrass festival circuit in the summer season I'd join them for sure.

Last year, I joined RVingWomen when I bought my "Escape Pod." I attended their national convention (5 day affair, moves around the country) in Charleston, SC last fall. I went knowing no one, which amazed all my family. I had a great time and made many friends. A great organization, very caring and inclusive. I don't care at all about gay v. straight, but I did not find the "gayness" very noticeable at all. Just a lot of really friendly and helpful women.
I joined my Northeast Network chapter and the Solo chapter. You can attend rallys held by any chapter without joining that chapter.

Thanks to all who are reponding! Much appreciated!
I looked into the NWLows and the pictures of the group and don't feel I'd be a good match for them.
Someone in our forum belongs to a group call Rambling Roses, or something like that? Hope they respond as I'm not finding anything RV related by googling the name.
I did look at the Good Sam's clubs and I have to agree on the rigidity of the groups.
Question on the Good Sam's membership. I see on their website it's like 19.99 to join.(having a promotional going on). It says with their card you get CG discounts, but does that also give you the roadside assistance, or is that all separate?
I'll give the Rving Women a look-see.

Roadside assistance is separate, and you have to be a GS member to get it. Highly recommend both. Well worth it. Used the roadside assistance 3 or 4 times now.
As to rving groups - check out the Escapees, also, who do have a singles group within the larger membership. (I'm not a member of any of the rving groups.) I, personally, had 2 bad experiences with Rving Women, but others, as you see, have had good ones - so it's up to you to find out. And if/when you purchase a rig, many of them have groups related to the rigs.
If all you're looking for is getting together - just stick with us - and plan one in your area - if one gets planned, they do come
I'll go to big rallies, or stick to gtg's with us or my singles group - both of whom I wouldn't hesitate to join anywhere.

LENORA, I too have the Good Sam ERS, but I am NOT a member of the club. I guess the membership gets you a discount for the ERS along with everything else. I have used the ERS a few times and have been happy with the service. Linda

I, too, belong to the Good Sam club, thereby getting me a discount for the first year, anyway, to the Good
Sam Emergency Road Service. I hope to never need it, but, if I do, I have heard good reports from the majority of those who've needed it. It covers all my vehicles, including trailer, truck, and any others I might add! Also covers any family members driving those vehicles, should they need road help. I used to belong to AAA, but they will only cover my truck. (Ford already covers my truck for another year, but not my trailer.) So I just received my new cards and am now covered wherever I go. It also gives me a 10% discount at certain campgrounds----not sure which ones, but I am sure there are many of them. It cost me 79.99 this first year, never to go above 109.00 after this initial year, so they say.
I need to call my insurance company (vehicle insurance company) to see just what the trailer is insured for. I am quite sure it's not covered for anything inside it, and I have a good amount of stuff in there. Good Sam has insurance coverage, too, which I need to examine to see what it would cost me to cover both my truck and my trailer and its contents. They say they will cover for FULL value of any loan you might have on it, plus up to 3,000 woth of stuff inside it. I could also take off collision costs for 6 months of the winter, and just keep comprehensive on it, with Good Sam. It sounds like something I need to investigate.
And that's all I know!

.Lenora, I went on a search and found nothing on Google or Yahoo search engines (well, one little reference to the group from mid 2007 - no information, though). So then I went to the "other" group you all left last year and found this thread...maybe this was what you were thinking of?

Does Good Sam's offer regular RV insurance, or just the roadside help, CG discounts and then the club chapter membership?
Sunshinecruiser, I'll be waiting to hear how you like the club. Thanks.

My friend joined RVing Women and she said she was disappointed as to most of the group was coupled up so she thought she was back to the same "couple" situation. She did go camping with them a few times (she knew there was a huge gay community) but didnt want to be with "couples" no matter what their preference. She has quit that club now.

I tried to send a reply but guess it went to lala land.
I am a member of the Texas Ramblin Roses. which is the Texas chapter of RVing Women. I tried to find a Good Sam Chapter near me to camp with but didn't find any that fit me. The first RVW rally I saw in East Texas I attended and had a good time. I have been to 3 of their rallys and have made many friends and had fun at all of them. Not all the women are couples, there are singles, widows, friends, sisters and married women that camp alone. The Texas chapter is hosting the RVW convention in San Antoino in October. It will be a week of fun and classes on different things. Go to RVingWomen.org and look up the convention. There is a motel at the campground where the convention is being held so you don't even need an RV to attend. I bet there is a chapter near you.
