Sharing our roofing experience

We've had a roof leak in the house since last winter when we were in Mexico. Have had people out to patch it a couple of times, leake kept returning. Finally called home owners ins. to see if they would do any thing. The insurance company sent our a roofer to check the whole roof- he said there was exensive wind damage on it and we needed a new roof. Crap. So called ins and they sent out an adjuster who also checked it out and miracle of miracles agreeded. So we now have a whole new roof - thank you home owners insurance! - Thought I share a couple of pictures of the workers. Our roof is 12 pitch about as steep as they make. Compnay sent out 15 guys (all from the wonderful Mexican town of Guanajuato - the town with all the tunnels I wrote about) Any way they almost finished it in one day. ONly had to come back a couple of hours the next day.
old roof already off - note walking boards on front side of roof

Working on the really steep part they were using ropes to keep them up there

I couldn't watch him.

Almost finished

So it is done and looks real pretty.
They did a heck of a job of cleaning up too. Even used a big magnet to find all the dropped nails.

Wow, it is beautiful! And a crew that picks up their own nails!?? Now that's a first. I spent two summers finding nails and screws around our last home we built. Glad your insurance picked up the bill and you can now rest easy that the leak is gone for good.

gotta love the insurance company at this point, they are doing a great job
of stimulating the economy :D That pitch is so steep, would have been
scarry to watch them hanging by ropes.

Now that was a roofing job and a half, Carol! What a steep pitch! So happy that an insurance company actually agreed to come across with the cost of what you pay insurance for! And your work crew was certainly extensive, experienced, and responsible-----just amazing!

My FL house has a huge deductible for roof insurance, due to hurricanes. of course. When the last two came over our neighborhood, our house was just about the only one that didn't end up with blue tarps on the roof for months on end! We lost one shingle! So no claims for us. YET.

Happy for you that you no longer have to worry about leaking damage. WHEW!

That new roof looks fantastic. And I'll bet your peace of mind is a lot better. But I'll agree about the pitch, that's a steep baby!
