Fireworks at local town got rained out some last night, but today will be family picnic and then another chance at fireworks in a different location.

"Let freedom ring"... for all the independent women!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!! LONG MAY SHE REIGN!

This 4th is really crazy in our area! My DD said that driving on interstate 5 the speed was down to 20 mph for miles in places. She thought perhaps there was a crash, but no, just traffic congestion.
Ft. Vancouver, who for years put on one of the biggest fireworks shows in the west, is not doing it this year because of the economy. No funds. Really sad as it has been a family tradition for many.
I'm going to try driving up I-5 to my DD's. As like last year, they are having a get together/picnic with their friends at the park next to the river. A really nice new park. Hope we can get the covered spot to stay out of the sun! I'll only stay a couple hours as I won't take my dog. Too hot, and also with the early fireworks going off the past few nights he's been a mess. So I want to be sure to be here for him.

This 4th I ended up having to the the cooking on the grill for all the grands. We watched the fireworks from our backyard. All the neighbors joined us, so a fun time for all of us. They were beautiful as always.
