Favorite time of day

These days my favorite time of day is early morning. It's just me, the critters, my coffee, peace and quiet with the internet.
But when I was in my younger days, not to long wed and the kids were little my favorite time of the day was at night.
The husband had went to bed earlier. The last bottle of the day was given at about 10pm, diaper changed and kid tucked in snugly, sleeping. It was then that I could have 'me' time. Everything was so quiet and still, relaxed and peaceful. I would make myself a cup of coffee, light a cigarette, sit at the kitchen table, unwind and just chill. If it was warm enough out I would sometimes sit out on the front porch and listen to the peepers. Tonight was one of those nights. Kelly is sleeping, David and girlfriend went off to her mother's for dinner then were going to the mud bog run. So for the most part it's just been me and the critters. Oh and the radio playing low in the background. I've gotten all the dishes done, stove and counters wiped off, gonna wait until the morning to clean off the table and sweep, my coffeepot is all set for the morning. And here I sit eating some mandarin orange slices just relaxing and chilling. Was out on the porch a little bit ago, it's dark of course, the temp is still warm and along with the rain earlier it feels like a sauna. And it's funny. I can hear the heatpump running for the A/C, the noise from the highway, a couple of voices talking but they are nothing to the peace and quiet outside. I know the noises are there. But it's like I don't hear them. I hear the peepers sing of life and love of rain. I just stand there, with my eyes closed, I'm in my own little pocket of the world. And I am content.
I hope all is right tonight in your own little pockets of the world. Good night my friends. Blessings
