San Miguel de Allende

Our first week in San Miguel has been wonderful, it's a fascinating city. No car, so we walk everywhere, I am learning my way around the Centro district. Everyday I explore new areas, so many beautiful old churches, plazas, courtyards, it would take months to learn the Centro.

The heart of the City is the Parroquia de San Miguel, the "parish church", it is anything but....

There is a huge plaza with no traffic in front of the Parroquia and the Jardin Allende. It's beautifully landscaped with paths and manicured trees.

The balloon vendor is out everyday as there are kids EVERYWHERE. Pai loves to chase birds in the Jardin, sorry to say, she fell and got a fat lip yesterday! Only slowed her down for a few minutes though

The streets are cobblestone with high, narrow side walks. Some are very steep, some flag stone, and some very rough river rock.

Most all the buildings have roof top gardens.

Morning light and a typical window.

Then there is the light at sunset....

This building was glowing, I wasn't the only one snapping pictures!

And finally twilight.....

What a beautiful city! Love the pictures and descriptions. Sorry about Pai's fat lip. Kids get so excited.
Stay safe!

What a pretty place! However, those 'high, narrow sidewalks???' Good grief----you would have to be a stick figure to get out of the way of a car on that street! Even a fat cat would have trouble walking on that!

Thanks for sharing the pics...one more place I have now seen, thanks to you and your camera.

We just loved San Miguel de Allende and hope to go back some day, Guanajuanto is our favorite too!! The houses and bright colors just amaze me and flowers growing everywhere. I loved the balconys made of iron and the churches were so awesome! Mexico has done a great job to preserve this city, it's beautiful there and yep everyone walks around or takes the buses. Wish I was with you!

I love how you caught the light at different times of the day, Diana. Great pics. The Mexicans really know how to make things pleasing to the eye, especially their plazas. It's on my someday list to get there too.. Thanks for the tour.

You guys keep whetting my appetite for Mexico. I just love what I've seen so far. I watched The Bucket List the other day and loved it. Except I couldn't help wishing his wife could have enjoyed it too. And the fact that there was ample money to do the things on the list. Not all of us would have that option. So what DID I like? The idea!
