tiny scary moment

man, thought I lost my phone line, was on the computer and everything went dead.
The phone line went down, checked all the connections outside too and everything
looked ok, but no dial tone, and when I called my house using the cell phone it was
a busy signal. I'm panicking now cause that means no computer and no forum and
what am I gonna do? clean the table? lol, not!
Called the phone company to report it, figured somebody hit a line with a backhoe
or something else more horrible. After about an hour it was back up and the phone
company called and asked if it was working ok now. Don't know what happen, but
I WAS going through withdrawal and it had only been an hour! I must have it bad.

Now who says we're dependent on our computers. I once had to go a weekend without it and I just didn't know what to do with myself. I sure couldn't workamp anywhere I couldn't get cell phone and computer. I do all my banking, etc on the computer.

For many a life line is blood, but for us it is a phone line and a computer. Take away either of those and we are in serious problems until we get them back. Got to have that contact with the cyber world. Glad to see you have been reconnected.

ok, well I too have to get used to the new buttons as I just typed out a whole post
and poof it was gone.
So, right after I did this post last evening and did a few other things my phone line
went out again. It was time to go to bed anyway so figured I'd take care of it today.
The phone company called me today on my cell phone and said they had called the
house to check the line and it was nothing but static and they needed to schedule
a guy to come out and fix it. I tell the lady I'd be home after 3. She said the guy
would be there. At 5 after 3, I call the phone company and check to see if the guy
is still gonna be here and this lady tells me there is no work order and that I'll have
to schedule one. I told her I did that earlier and she insisted there wasn't one. Ok,
then I'll be home tomorrow at 3 and she says ok, and puts in a work order. Not 2
minutes after I hung up the phone there is a knock on the door. ITS THE PHONE
COMPANY!! I secretly knew that lady was nuts, well not really nuts but she didn't
have all her facts for sure. Turns out the phone line was corroded from the rain
and growing green stuff inside. New phone cord and here I am :D
Truth is, the roof has a leak and water came in down the wall where the phone line
hooks in, thats the one thats wet. The new phone line I got comes from the box,
into the front door and across the livingroom floor  but I got computer!!
So now I have to get some self leveling sealer and do certain places on the roof.
Thats a whole nother post on another day.

Whew, what a mess, Ava. Those leaks are nothing to fool with...can lead to a lot of damage. Hope you're able to fix it quickly and easily.

I'm glad the phone is fixed. Don't let that water keep leaking in or it will do you a lot of damage,... Need help,... I'll be over at 5 after 3! haha..... Seriously , I would if I could,... but it's a heck of a commute!

Now, I want to know if they come back again the next day LOL

Yuck to the leak, but as you say, that's a whole 'nother story. Just don't let it do more damage, that's scary.

I just found another reason to fulltime - don't have to deal with crazy phone companies - well except for Verizon... When I first got my Verizon aircard I called to ask something about Outlook Express Email. The woman at Verizon kept telling me to call my ISP provider. I kept explaining to her that I access the internet thru their Verizon aircard so they were my provider. She kept insisting they were a phone company not an ISP provider. Arggggggggg!!!!!!! Hung up and called a techie friend who walked me thru the fix.

It's sad but true, Karen.
You have to call Microsoft for browser fixes and that costs like $35 an incident, perhaps more now. I have Comcast and they told me the same thing, only I lucked out as the young man that answered my call was a computer geek and helped me anyway.
