Thought you'd get a kick out of my new beach towel. You ladies just don't realize how hard it is to find Flaming stuff. I really have to work at it.

This is what I do after work - tough life, huh?

Diane and I were thinking of caravaning to the keys of Florida. When could we go when its NOT hot and humid but also NOT during hurricane season? Does Florida get tornados?

Isn't the GTG in Hartford in September? I may still be in Silver City thru Sept. Right now I'm only scheduled thru 9/9 but they've said I'm welcome to stay longer. We'll see what the weather is like in Kerrville.

I'm thinking of going back to Port Lavaca for a week and boondock right on the beach, maybe in October or November weather permitting. Anyone interested in a short GTG on the beach?

I hiked over 3 miles in 90+ degree weather yesterday. So did Peaches, who on the way back found a spot of shade, sat down, and had to be cajoled to finish. I apologized to her - then got to rv, turned on generator in the parking lot - with air - and died for an hour. Was 90+ today in Rapid City, SD - what's up with this? Temps will go down tomorrow - and highs in the 60's by Thursday.

Karen, I KNEW I'd be seeing flamingos on the beach towel :) Can't answer your FL questions - other than the keys are expensive to visit in an rv, any season. And hurricane season ends in November- same as in TX.

I guess I'm happy to be right where I am, as it's supposed to get up into the 80s again by tomorrow! I can avoid 90+ heat any day and be perfectly happy! 70s and 80s are just right, in my book! Granted, we had very freezing weather here yesterday morning, but by the afternoon, it was back up into the 60s. Sorry about your heat, you all, although that poolside dame looks to be having a wonderful 'down' time!! I could do some pool time, myself. Is that your own private pool area, Karen, or the pool for wherever you are working/living? Where are you, anyway?!

And your new beach towel is gorgeous! Belle would be very proud of you!

Love the towel - keep up the good work. I've wondered the same thing about visiting Florida - seems like it is always in turmoil weather wise.

Karen,
You look so comfy out by the pool. I took about an hour to rest this afternoon. Went out back to the pool and walked down the steps. My goodness it took my breath away! Water temp is 76 degrees and it left me feeling exhilirated!! My goodness, it did feel so good to get wet for a few minutes and to just read a book with the sun beaming down!! Just might do it tomorrow also!

I feel sure you will hear from Sunshinecruiser as she will be heading down that way at some point. Ron and I will probably be in Key West during December; however, not in a motor home!! Can't wait to go.

Hi Karen, Nice poolside picture, although I didn't see the new towel. The hurricane season in florida runs from June 1 to December 1, with the most active months being august and sept. There are tornadoes in Florida as well, they can come from severe T-storms or roll in-front of the hurricane. Key West would be expensive no matter when you go. I lived in fla for 12 years and always enjoyed taking visitors there. I found it to be a nice laid back, relaxing town. Linda

We visited the Keys in early November a few years back and had perfect weather. Not to say it would always be good at any given time. We had heard how expensive everything was down there, but didn't find it to be that bad. I searched on-line to find a park and discovered one about halfway in Marathon that wasn't priced too bad. Of course, keep in mind that I'm in California where camping is expensive anyway, so not to bad for me might be awful for someone else! But it's only for a few days or even a week, so go for it - it's really worth the price. By being in the middle of the Keys, we could take the car to run up and down the Keys to visit other places.

Good picture of how hard you work, Karen. I just knew someone would come up with a flamingo beach towel! I'm finding flamingo stuff everywhere now. Finding it - not buying it!

Love the towel and interesting to see how hard work at pool side can be.
For many years, husband and I vacationed in FL. We found late fall to be best time. Don't think we ever encountered bad weather. October for northern half (Daytona-Tampa- up thru panhandle) and November for southern areas. Our favorite place was Sanibel Island, just off west coast near Ft Myers.
