The Incompetant Beaver

When Beth and I were staying at a picnic site near Taos I went for a walk beside a fast flowing river, which, incidentaly kept both Beth and I awake all night, I found this tree. I imagined the Beaver saying "Damn, I'll NEVER get this dam built."
Different tree, "I HATE when that happens!"
"Maybe if I chew on a really BIG tree?"

I think most of the year that river is a really slow moving stream. However, right at the moment, it is running fast and furious from the melting snow - and yes, that day we drove through the snow and yesterday we again were in the snow - and where are the snow pics, Sparkle - and don't ask me - I haven't got my camera pics on my puter yet. Maybe tomorrow - after I get a bunch of work done.
Oh, other than the water running which we thought would help us sleep (obviously not, lol) that was a great place to stop for the night - and, again, free. Even better

Love the beaver story...poor guy. Were you near Brazos Cliffs on 64? I remember the gorgeous views there and Roe playing in the snow. I'll be sad when the traveling duo has to part, but I know you're both off to other just as great adventures.

Better being kept awake by a running river than a train howling past at 2 in the am or cars honking on the interstate, or, or, or.

Think I know where you're at, stayed there with DH many years ago, beautiful spot, but yes the water is really noisy there. Didn't keep either one of us awake, tho, we loved it. Have you been to Taos yet? Or on your way? Be sure and go see the staircase, can't remember the name of it, but interesting story behind it. I love Taos, but then there are very few places in NM that I don't love. Love the arcitecture, love the food (oh man, do I love the food!!!), love the scenery. You couldn't give me enough money to live there in the winter but would like to spend summers there.

When we were at Toad River campground in Alaska we would hear a crashing sound and sure enough it was the Beavers hard at work. They had a huge Beaver Dam. What we really like was seeing all the Moose in the huge pond right in front of us, ducking their heads into the water to get the grass below and then pull up their heads and shake all the water off......delightful!. We aimed 3 motorhomes towards the water and it was so magical to see the Beavers and the Moose each day.
