Judy, especially for you. Another friend of mine has always had bad bug bite experiences and recently discovered this. She didn't believe it but her husband talked her into trying it and she's now a believer. So maybe something for you (and anyone else with bug bite problems) to try.

Well, in the eight hours since I posted about my tiny new bug bite, it has grown to a bright red welt that is about an inch in diameter. I took two Benadryl and put on some cortisone cream, but It burns and itches. Has the usual dark grey center which is the beginning of infection. Darn!!!

Here is the weird thing. For some reason mosquitos or whatever strongly prefer my left leg and tend to bite on the back if that leg. Almost never get them on arms or face and only a few on right leg. I am going to order that tool — don’t know if it will work but I’ve tried everything else. Only thing that really works is a prednisone dose pack and antibiotics from urgent care but since I have only one bite am hoping it goes away in a day or two.

About 30% of CLL patients get these, and it does not seem to matter that I am definitely still in remission and all my blood numbers are perfect. Very irritating, but I suppose it could be worse so I should be grateful.

I just got up in the middle of the night and ordered the Bug Bite Thing suction tool and a heat device that has very good reviews. The heater thing was a bit expensive, but I will need it in Ohio and Michigan next summer, and Florida next winter. These two might save me some sleepless nights and a trip or two to Urgent Care!! Thanks for the suggestion, Beth. The reviews on both of these are very good, so I hope they work.

In the meantime, I need to toss my little ice packs into the freezer. They do help cut down on the burning.

Judy, have you tried applying Colloidal Silver gel, a excellent antibacterial, as soon as you find the bite, to prevent infection? I have seen very good results. It's been in use for well over half a century as burn creams in hospitals.

Judy, let us know which one or both of these work for you. I would be interested in getting them too.

It may take a while to get the next insect bite, but I will certainly try these devices out and let everyone know. Part of the problem is that it often takes a few hours before you know you have been bitten. I did once stick a needle into the puss-filled middle of one bite and squeeze it to try to get rid of the poison. It sort of worked!
