Camping World and Walmart carry little plastic thingies that slide into your awning slot to hang your lights on. Because I live in Texas and its always windy I got really tired of having to take the lights down so I could take the awning in. Finally got rope lights that I lay on the ground around my outside rug. Also bought one of those battery operated remote wall switches so I could turn the lights off from my bed since I kept going to bed and THEN noticing the lights were still on and was annoyed by having to get up, go outside and turn off the lights. Also got some solar lights to set around my campsite. There were some places I couldn't pound the stakes into the hard ground so finally figured another way. Bought some empty quart paint cans and carry or buy a sack of kitty litter. When I set up I put the lights into the can and fill with kitty litter and set them around. When I leave I dump the litter so I don't have to carry any weight. Painted the cans pink to match the Flamingos.

Kay, there is also another type that clips to the awning scallops. They are made like the ones for holding baby's mittens - snap "garter" type holders on each end. I've also seen folks use plain old plastic clothespins. Just pick up a color that goes pretty well with the awning color.

Karen - love your ideas. Imagine turning off your lights from bed! How about giving that kitty litter to another camper who has a cat? Too bad I don't camp next to you! I go through a lot of the stuff.
