Gas Price Survey

Since I am moving around from place to place, including from state to state, I have been wondering about gas prices, especially since gas is a large part of my travel costs. For example, the cost per gallon for a credit purchase for regular gas until a couple of weeks ago in Washington and Oregon was around $5.70 a gallon. This past weekend, I was happy to pay $5.09 per gallon along the coast. When I arrived in Eugene last Monday, the going price seemed to be $5.29, but on Thursday, I noticed that it had dropped to about $5.09 and yesterday I saw it in one place for $4.89 per gallon in eugene. And today, just south of Roseburg, I paid $4.69 per gallon but then saw it at a casino a few miles south for $4.49 a gallon!!

So what did you pay per gallon, credit card price, the last time you got gas? And where did you get that price??

And have you seen it for less in the last couple of days??

Thanks

Download GasBuddy to your phone. You can look up fuel-gas or diesel, any place in US. Prices are updated by users, so stay very up to date for most places. We used gas Buddy in 08 to scout ahead for diesel, using their map to look at access, as to how easy to get bus in and out. It's a great tool, with a well proven track record.

It's always accurate here, often with update within the hour or two. And when I traveled to Oregon it was accurate in 2019. So maybe you are going to less frequently used places. If you sign into gas buddy, you could update when you see discrepancy as its a user driven app.

In Abbeville the price of regular at Walmart was 3.26 on Wednesday. In September it was 2.86 and then it started going up. I have found that gas stations a little away from the interstate are sometimes a little cheaper than the ones just off an interstate.

In Lafayette the gas at Sam's is usually the cheapest in town. Costco put in a gas station but I'm not a member and they don't have signs that show the price.

Costco here in Roseburg is $4.49 On the gas buddy app it also tells you right below the price how long ago someone posted that price. The new gas station right next to Lowe's is following Costco prices too so it was $4.49 You should have asked me yesterday. LOL

I pay attn to when the station on gas buddy was updated. And often it's updated by the owners. I look to see if I'm close to a Sam's Club, because like Martha stated they are normally lowest in the area. Also like Martha, I'm not a member of Costco so can't use them for lowest price but I have noticed they and Sam's are often the lowest. In Cedar City here, the gas at Smith's, with their card has been the best price. All that said, prices are going up and down like a yoyo, so it's hard to find the best to far, even the night before, in advance. I almost changed my route leaving here because gas prices will be much better in Arizona, but decided I'll live with the higher prices over adding 100+ miles to my trip.

The lowest we have seen in central FL, just a couple miles from where we live is $ 3.12. The country store in town is higher at $ 3.28.

Here in SoCal I buy gas at either AM/PM or Circle K. They are the cheapest around here. I am not a member of Costco or Sam's so I don't know what their prices are but I just filled my tank for $5.13 per gln. It was a dollar more just 2 weeks ago.

Follow the bouncing ball! I'm not that far from Barbie, but yesterday one station had regular gas for $5.09 and not even 1/2 mile away it was $5.69! Since I'm heading to Laughlin this morning, guess you know I opted for the $5.09!

I don't spend much energy or breath talking or fretting about gas prices that I can not control. When I notice that one area is less expensive I will try to stop. If I have the money I choose to keep getting in the vehicle/s and driving. When I run out I will park them and sit in my rocking chair. Gas is high internationally. The only folks happy with it are the oil companies that are making huge, huge profits and I suspect the folks with stock in the oil companies. The working stiffs and those of us on fixed incomes, not so much. I do remember that the gas prices in 2012 did not stop us from driving to Alaska that summer. Have fun with your survey.

Tina, I agree with you. I think it's the oil companies that are taking advantage of all the disagreement over oil. I pass a Heliport every time I go to town and the parking lot is as full as it's ever been. These are workers going to off-shore oil platforms.

The gas prices around here are doing the bouncing bubble on prices. Mostly $5.00/gal +++. When I had my car, and a Costco card, I always bought gas at Costco. It was the least expensive. Lyn

If I was to join either Costco or Sam's Club, which one would be the better choice, as far as finding them on the road when I head out? I have been a member of Costco before but never been to Sam's.

Barbie, I have only been a member of Sam's but I seldom buy groceries there anymore because most things come in such big packages. I don't find that the cost of food is cheaper. Sometimes I go with my son and we share. I don't know that it would be worth a membership just for the gas. The Sam's in Lafayette is probably 5 miles from the interstate. It probably wouldn't be worth looking for a Sam's when you're traveling.
