I'm curious. When I was a teen, I asked for a Cedar chest, which I still own, along with my Moms! But I'm hearing more about these much smaller treasure chests. Is this a trend that replaces the Cedar chest, which was often filled through the years, until a girls marriage with linens she had personally made or embroidered or were gifts from women she knew or relatives?
I've even known Grandfathers who hand made for a grandchild, boys and girls, these treasure chests!

That is adorable! Love the turtles! Where did you get the chest?

I'll ramble and perhaps answer Barbie's and Velda's questions... perhaps sometimes a I don't know is an answer right?
I too got a cedar chest and still have it... I think I was 16 perhaps when I got it and all my kids got them tried to suit there likes... youngest was more of a foot locker type...
several years ago I went to a craft store in Vegas with my sister.... and saw this box it looked like a cigar box sorta and it was all decorated up you could do whatever you wanted I thought of my granddaughter and thought she would like that for graduation... so proceeded to figure out how to incorporate what she did in school on it (the store was more of a scrape book store) and it turned out so cute!!! well when you start doing something for one then you usually do the same for the rest if possible... so next was the grandson and did pretty much the same only more boyish for him as with the granddaughter as they had a lot of the same interests... and another granddaughter more of the same if I recall her's but then came the foot ball player and couldn't find anything to decorate the box so went with this style of box and I think just stained... then another grandson so gave him the option money or box shock of all shock went with the box.. and pretty much just stained as he really didn't get into any thing... then this granddaughter same offer she choose the box she was also into theater but couldn't find any embellishments but she did like butterflies she told me so we got a packet of butterflies and flowers... so had the idea of mode podging them on... and asked dd to find me some turtles as she likes turtles even has a couple... I got these to let the kids keeps their high school treasures in it... I don't know if it's taking the place of cedar chests although I wouldn't be surprised if cedar chests are not in... as I don't think any of my granddaughters have one.... and Barbie I got them at Hobby Lobby in the wood area
thank you all for your thoughts
