From Pallets to Pickets

You probably read somewhere along the line that I was making a small picket fence out of pallets. Well here is the result.

First I took the pallets and cut tips on them with my miter saw, then I painted them and then I assembled the fence. It is a rustic, but that is the way it should look with this kind of wood. At the moment this is a project in the works, as I have a blank canvas to work with around it. Didn’t want to park the fence clear cross the whole length.

Great recycling idea Sue!

I was in Texas a few Christmases ago, and the campers cut pallets into trees and decorated them with paint, garland, lights and whatever else they had around. Here's a sample. Maybe for your subdivision entrance?

That is a cute idea Cheryl. Thanks for sending the picture. I am planning to cut some big trees out of plywood to put out front for Christmas this year. Truth be told, depending upon what you are making out of pallets it can be a lot of work. My pumpkins took me about three days of cutting to get them done. Course that wasn’t from dawn to dusk type thing ha ha. But once you bring the pallets home then you gotta get them all apart and that can be a pain sometimes too. But there are more and more things being made with pallets and I’m wondering how long it’s gonna be, before the free pallets start getting price tags. Although I think a lot of the businesses are glad to get rid of them. And there are different types of pallets too and some of the heavier thicker ones are reusable and so they’re off-limits.

Sue - I'm always amazed at your imagination, ambition, talent and energy! Really nice picket fence. So . . . are you going to have one of your critters peeking over it?

That’s an idea, Evie. I didn’t think about that. Another suggestion to throw in the pot.
