I mentioned in MC a couple of times that one of our local gals, Winter Vinecki was competing in the Olympics as part of the U.S. Women’s Aerials Team. Sadly she didn’t make it through the qualifying heats, but we are still proud of her for making it to the world stage. She posted this on our “You Know Your From Gaylord When… Facebook page today. She is an inspiration to all. Thought I would share it with you

At 14, my mom and I became the first mother and daughter to run a marathon on all 7 continents. Now, in bib 14, I forever became the first Winter in the Winter Olympics.

So many what ifs last night. What if I had just landed my jump cleaner. All I needed was those few extra points to make finals. What if I had more competitions to practice this year. Maybe I would have felt less nervous. What if I would have had that extra full day of training here to practice my new trick. I had to miss a day after I was on stand by as an alternate on the Team Event just a couple days ago.

10 years of work for less than 3 seconds in the air. The amount of weight that holds is sometimes unfathomable. When it goes perfect, the high is incredible and when it is less than perfect, the lows are heart wrenching.

So proud to see my teammate @megsnick9 win the bronze. We have spent countless early mornings and late evenings in bungee and on the water ramps all summer long together, putting in the extra work.

As for me, this is just the beginning of Winter The Olympian. I know I could have performed better. But I also know I am more than just those few second. I have been able to bring worldwide attention to causes that are dear to me and encouraged others to do the same. I hope I have inspired the world to dream big. Most of all, I hope I have shown everyone that at the end of the day, we can not always get the perfect outcome we dreamed of, but we can never give in!

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you will land among the stars.”

You don’t need a metal to be a winner. Thanks Sue
