Online Grocery Shopping

I just set up another account for grocery pickup. BJ’s warehouse completes the list of all the stores I shop. Technology is frustrating for me but stores rearranging items infuriates me. I can no long spend time wandering aisles searching for items and it is safer to have groceries delivered to my suv. When I am no longer able to drive family will pickup orders for me. Just posting another coping mechanism for seniors. Lol

Forever ago I quit being able to find an item I wanted at any grocery. Yesterday, for the heck of it, I searched on my Walmart app. Lol and behold, they have it. It's in my cart for my next pickup. I can't believe how much time I've wasted in stores looking. Love pickup for many reasons. I do run in for deli and fresh meat.

I have had Walmart delivery to my home almost exclusively for (hard to believe!) almost two years (two years in March).

There is another grocery store here that also delivers, but they are very "high-end" and expensive to have delivery - but their meat quality is great, where I have found Walmart meat quality to be a bit sub-par. So I wait until this other store has meat on sale, and then get delivery from them.

If the plague never ends, I'm not sure I will ever go back to regular "in-person" shopping, mainly because (like you, Beth) I hate spending gobs of time hunting for stuff. Much easier just to have it show up at my front door. :D

Having groceries delivered to a secure apartment building is complicated for everyone. It is a possibility

I have never had groceries delivered to car or house, as I prefer to shop in store. Occasionally something I want is missing, but it's usually there next trip. I never spend a lot of time looking and only shop groceries at 3 places: Costco, Walmart. And the grocery store a few blocks from me. Best meat, always Costco. I have a pretty limited list variety wise, and it's all simple, mostly meat, eggs, and dairy, plus a few things for son. I'm sorry you all struggle so to find stuff.

OK so I must be the exception...I love touring the grocery store (not all the time, sometimes I have a list). It gives me ideas for what to fix. Sometimes they have a close out on things that are not advertised. I like to fondle my own produce LOL Now there is always the problem with a few things jumping into my cart but.............it is all good stuff. Then I go by the bakery, some great breads and an occasional sweet item calling my name.

It isn’t that I wouldn’t like to fondle produce or visit the bakery but it is physically too hard for me now. I have not been disappointed at the selection of produce picked by Walmart. Is it up to the standards of expensive Safeway, no, it’s a small version. You get what you pay for. Grocery pickup has been a blessing for me. We are talking about an age difference plus I have never liked shopping. I would rather dig in dirt. Lol

Shirl I think we all do what we have to do. If that makes your life easier go for it. I like things that make my life easier all the time. I love telling Alexa to turn on and off my lights. Turn on my electric blanket, press a button to start my Robot vacuum YUP life is easier.

I hate grocery shopping especially when they rearrange everything. I personally think that is when a lot of people decide to go to a different store. I will go to the Neighborhood Coop which is just a little over a mile from our house mostly for the deli other than that I send my personal shopper! DH loves to grocery shop. We live in an area where there are several local growers and lovely produce is available year round. The weekly farmers market has all types of meat, seafood brought in from Alaska, beef, goat etc, plus many of them belong to Leaf and you can order online and pick up in fron tof the Coop or have it delivered Mostly we just need staples from groceries.
I would love to have Alexa but would probably never figure out how to turn it on.

I like to do my own grocery shopping too. But as we have all said, whatever works the best for us is the way we go. My local Meijer store has perks on their credit card, like $.10 a gallon off on gas, when I spend over $750, I get a $10 coupon to take off on my groceries or whatever I buy at the store, plus $3-4 off on my groceries whenever I spend over $250. And since thry track my purchases, I get monthly coupons for things So I shop so I can use them. But it gets me out and about for awhile. When you are retired, doesn’t matter how long you are in a store. Unless you have an appt. it’s not unusual here, to come across somebody you know or people standing there in the aisles talking with each. other.

It’s interesting how we all differ in how we shop! I find it’s a good way to get out and see other humans! One thing I have found during the last year plus is that I’m quicker to ask where something is located. There’s usually a few associates doing something in the aisles and I have no problem asking someone! Stores seem to love to change things around!

Sharon, like you, I have no problem asking one of the workers where I can find something. Some have given me the aisle number and approximately where I will find it in that aisle and others have walked me to the item. I also like picking out my own meats and produce, so we do our own shopping.
