IMPORTANT Survey! :-)

Postby Cudedog » Tue Sep 07, 2021 6:48 pm

Well, as I am sitting here baking my brains (112 degrees @ 4:00 p.m. - will post temp @ 5:00, usually warmest hour of the day) I am wondering what the high temp was/is in your neck of the woods (I feel blessed to have a.c.).

Thought it might be fun to see everyone's general location (I live north of Sacramento in northern California) and to see their "high temp of the day".

LOL. If you don't know what it was, just post what it felt like to you (example: "hot enough to fry pancakes on the sidewalk, and me without my maple syrup" or "Who needs an oven, when I already have a backyard". LOL. Or something like that).

Creeping up on mid-September (not quite there yet, of course), but holy heck! 112??? At this point, I don't even remember what cool (let alone cold) weather feels like. Is there such a thing??

My poor Joe has been begging for his daily ball toss (he is one unhappy dog), but it ain't gonna happen. Even turning the hose on him after exercise would not cool him down fast enough in this kind of heat. I dare not risk it.

So, what's it like out there where you are?

Predicted was 98 but due to the heavy smoke cover we only hit 91 at 5pm

We didn't hit the predicted 90 plus, but the 88 was hot enough. Hatch, Utah

I was in Decatur, IN, today and high was 86. Cooler yesterday and supposed to be back to upper 70s tomorrow in Decatur and 75 in Aurora, OH, tomorrow. Good thing is that nights are in 60s instead of 70s lately. Some scattered rain tomorrow, also.

106° in Roseville CA, about 11 miles east of Sacramento. Sorry, too hot to go see if could fry an egg. Thank goodness for AC. Walked on treadmill and had 2'watercolor classes today. Tonight was really fun because we were using alphabet letter stamps and the instructor surprised me, by choosing to use my name in one of three demo pieces she did! She is mailing it to me!
Thursday will be interesting. Change in wind directions and cooling, plus possible lightning (no rain). Hope they are wrong and we get a sprinkle and no fire starts !

We are hovering about the same as Velda, mid 100's most of the time --- - about halfway between LA and Palm Springs, give or take.

I live between Intracoastal City and Ester just above Vermilion Bay in South Louisiana. I don't know what the high was yesterday because I haven't replaced my indoor/outdoor thermometer that went crazy last week and was showing temperatures about 8 degrees hotter than it really was. I'm sure it was in the upper 90's.

I feel sorry for the people that don't have air conditioning and are trying to recover from Ida. More people will probably die from carbon monoxide poising from generators than died in the storm.

We are suppose to have a cool front come through tomorrow and have night time temperatures in the 60's.

At 9 this morning, it was already 85° here in Roseville, on it's way into 100° range. So tired of heat!

Yesterday at 5 it was around 80-82 - not bad at all. I live just inside Oranga County, CA - 17 miles inland from Huntington Beach.
Today it's supposed to get to the high 80''s, its currently 85 at my place & then will be in the 90's for a few days before we cool down a bit again.

Last year we had much warmer temps this time of year - with about a week in the low 100's.

Just after 2 pm and it's 105, so we have another 2-3 hours before temps drop off in Roseville.

Thanks, everyone! This had been fun.

Topped out at 113 today at about 5 p.m., Wednesday.. There is a "flex alert" from PG &E (electrical) for today and tomorrow, asking everyone to limit their electrical useage between 4:00 and 9:00 due to the high heat and everyone's a/c cranking.

I hope everyone complies, otherwise we run the risk of rolling blackouts. :(

Velda, what was your high temp today?

Las Vegas - five days of excessive heat warning. Been over 110 as we live in lowest part of valley. cooling down to 105 - 101 for next seven days. Might get a few drips of rain today or tomorrow which might cool us down more. tired of this weather 81 days of over 100 this year so far.
