'Nother SCAM coming down the road. . .

Good morning, ladies.

The scam artists are at it again, it seems.

The other day I received the following text message on my phone:

BofA Alert: Your ATM/debit card has been restricted. Please contact us at [not gonna include the phone number] to verify your account

First of all, I NEVER respond to unsolicited text messages that I don't know where they are coming from. If (for example) my bank is involved, I ALWAYS telephone my bank, FIRST, I NEVER respond to a text message like this one.

Secondly, I don't have a Atm or debit account with B of A (LOL - or BofA for that matter), so I'm not calling them back anyway.

So, heads up, everyone.

Thought I would share that I also have a new "procedure" regarding my phone:

First of all, I never "pick up" on a telephone number I don't recognize - I always just let all incoming calls go to voicemail, even when I am staring at the phone while it is buzzing.

Second of all, if the caller does not leave a voice mail, I automatically block that number so that the number can't call me a second (LOL, or third or fourth) time.

This practice has cut down drastically on my spam telephone calls.

I got a call today that I didn't answer. The voice mail said that the call was from Amazon and they had blocked an order for over $1,000 and gave me a number to call.

#1 The call was from a local area code and local number.

#2 I'm sure Amazon would be calling me. Any order I make I leave my home phone number if they want a number and the call was on my cell phone.

#3 I get an email from my credit card every time I make an Amazon order.

I get tired of all the tricks these scammers try. I will have to figure out how to block calls on my new phone.
