Vanity won out ...

Okay, this has nothing to do with RVing but everything to do with being female ... so here goes!

This time last year I decided to go "natural," allowing my hair to show its gray. I thought I would feel empowered and authentic. Instead, at 56, I felt "invisible" and truly felt like (and described myself as) a "little old lady." So about a week ago I went to the salon and had a color weave applied. Part of me feels guilty about going back, but I can't describe how different I feel. The "little old lady" self-description has just about disappeared and I was astounded (and delighted!) when I realized men were flirting with me again.

Call me shallow, but I really don't want to be alone for the rest of my life. But if I am alone, I want to feel younger and more vibrant. And right now, I do. So there!

Good for you! Absolutely fantastic! Goooooo Girl. If God didn't want us to use them all those products wouldn't have been invented.

Good for you, Janice.

On a similar note, I quit wearing makeup down here - the salt air and wind just had it running down my face. Several years ago I wanted to get permanent eyeliner - but didn't. Well, guess what - someone here on the island does it - and I don't care the cost, when this storm is past, I'm making an appointment. I like feeling like a woman, not a boy LOL

I'm glad you did something just for YOU - you did good.

Good for you-------------
I'm an old Image consultant & cosmetologist------ who suffers from MCS---(multi chemical sensitivity)--- I have taught others-----how to dress & corrective make up & done make overs for years-----but when my health got so bad I had to quit wearing any make up------coloring my hair & being able to even use hair products------etc/etc/etc---
And it has been a real adjustment for me-------one that has been very hard for me------
as people that I use to show how to dress- & do their make up------etc/etc/etc----- no longer even recognize me--with my hair really short & no products on it-& no longer colored & no make up at all-----etc/etc/etc----some days I don't feel very pretty--- & also I have put on weight from what I was------& all in all------- I don't feel like the old me-----------
If I colored my hair or used make up now------it would kill me-------- &the chemicals I use to use everyday------in my slaon & businesses is what has caused all the health problems I have ------- I'm glad you feel better------- image has a lot to do with how we feel also!!!!!!!!!!
I have done volunteer work for many different groups----for years & ordering a good wig that fits a lady who has lost all her hair from chemo-----or doing a very sick person's hair can make them feel better---& change how they think------

Beth--------- be very very very careful about who does your permanent eyeliner-----being an image consultant------ I know seven friends who had it done & wish they had NOT had it done-----as one has terrible eye problems now caused by the ink they used--------& all the others have problems with how it was done & it can't be corrected & -one they used too dark of a color & she looks like a raccoon permanently----------I have helped her with corrective make up-to try to hid some of it-------all seven hate what they had done---- & wish they had never ever had it done & wish it could be removed--but it can't be removed------ & your eyes are very sensitive to that sort of thing-------please be careful----don't just have anyone do it-with out really checking them out- & really think about it!!!!!! Thanks!!!! OO

Thanks for your concern OO - I found the lady that I'll go through from 3 people I know who have used her - and they all highly recommend her. She does a small test first to check for allergic reactions - and their eyes look great.

You'll be glad to know that a few years ago when I wanted to have it done - I was in WI and there weren't many in my area who did it. Finally made an appt to talk to one about it and didn't even like the pictures of the results on several of the ladies she had done. I backed out of it. But seeing these ladies - one who had it done last fall and one last week, the third somewhere in between, gives me confidence in this lady.

I've seen it done well, and poorly - and that's why I'm happy to find someone that I believe knows what she's doing. All 3 of these ladies look great - hopefully I will also. But I do realize things can go wrong - and I definitely appreciate your concern.

That is good Beth--------

My ex-sister in law--------just contacted me about two months ago---- that over 8 or 10 years ago or may be longer she had eyes done & liked it & got along fine------- now all this time later------ her body has decided it didn't like what she had done------ she also had a very small tattoo put on her ankle--& now this has to be old ink as these were done years ago------ & her body is rejecting the ink now--- they can remove the one on her ankle but not on her eyes------- she is trying to decide if she wants to try to go through the surgery to remove the one on her ankle or not----she is lets see about 71 or 72 years old now------- & she said----I hate waking up in the morning & seeing what I did to my eyes let alone the problems she is having now -she said her doctor said this happens more than most realize!!!!!!
She wanted to know since I'm allergic to everything if I had heard of this before---- & I had!!
Just be very careful--------it is permanent!!!

You'll all just have to put up with me looking "like a boy." I don't do makeup any more...(except for maybe a minimal amt for a very special occasion so I won't scare anybody), and decided to leave my hair the way God gave it back to me after chemo...just glad to have some!

OH, and Janice - I didn't mean to steal your post :) - You do what's best for you.

Liz, I sure understand that. I was getting used to the make-up less face I've had lately - but just decided, what the hey - and if it ends up making me look like a raccoon - I have always loved animals LOL - that might not have been the one I would have picked to emulate, but if that's the way it goes, sobeit - I went in with my eyes wide open.

Well I quit dyeing my hair because hair was thinning too much and campgrounds DO NOT like ladies putting those chemicals down their drains and I don't want them down mine either. I do wear makup because I have a mole on my left eye right next to my eyelashes. If I do not wear eye makeup everyone asks what is on my eye...makeup hides it hense I get compliments on how pretty my eyes are.

Told God if he wasn't going to give me a sexy figure then at least let me have pretty eyes! :D  :D

Doctor said he will not remove the mole till it bothers my vision because he said I may loose some eyelashes if he removes it.

I just love seeing women with pure white or shiny silver hair and always tell them I love their hair. My friends Hannah & Diane decided to quit dyeing theirs because I quit and their hair looks awesome! Some gals look great with the Silver and some not, just depends on your skin coloring and alot of your attitude.

I know I have to remember to smile....I'm a frowner and it really does make me look frompy so I have to remember to pull my chin up and smile!
