Camping trip cancelled. . . :-(

Well. Dang.
I was *SO* looking forward to going camping over 4th July week. Emphasis on "was". I made the reservations back in January, I think.
In checking the weather forecast for the day I was planning to leave, looks like temps are predicted to reach 113 or better, with upper 100's (108 - 109 - 110) continuing the rest of the week.
Ugh.
I am very hesitant in driving *anywhere* when it is so very hot - any small mishap (flat tire, car trouble, trailer issue) that might force me to stop on the side of the road waiting for assistance for even a small period of time could potentially be life-threatening for my sweet Joe in this kind of heat.
Added to that, the thought of spending a week sitting inside a metal box with the a/c struggling to keep the inside cool (too hot to go out and take walks and just generally enjoy the campground scenery) doesn't really appeal.
Thus I have very reluctantly cancelled my camping reservations for 4th July week. It is a pain to be home on 4th July - the bottle rockets around here start going off about July 1, and don't stop until July 6 or 7 (with the sound of WWIII happening the evening of July 4th) drives my poor Joe out of his mind. Which is why I like to be gone on the 4th.
Oh well. It is what it is. I was planning to stop in Klamath Falls for a day or so to look around some more (hope springs eternal! ), but that's not going to happen either.
Maybe later in the year. We'll see.
Hope you all are having better camping weather where you are, so you can get out and enjoy the 4th.
Anne
