30 amp surge protector suggestions

I am thinking about my AC problems with tripping the circuit breaker last night. (I was able to reset the circuit breaker and it worked all night and is working now.) So, I am going to bite the bullet and get a surge protector. So, I have no idea what to buy. This page from Camping World has several. Any suggestions???????? https://www.campingworld.com/search?q=3 ... rt=0&sz=12

Here is a similar page for Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=30+amp+rv+su ... doa-p_1_16

They look a little cheaper on Amazon, but why would someone spend $280 or even $330 for one when there are several for less than $100??? I don't think I want to spend that much, but what do you get for the extra money??

I would never trust my $80,000 LTV to a cheapie CW product. I bought a Progressive from Amazon on Progressives store. I have the EMS PT30X. It's a Electrcal Management system, not just a surge protector. Look up the cost of replacing your fridge, AC, and other electrical appliances all at once if you take a hit and ask yourself if the Progressive is worth it. It carries a lifetime warranty so if it takes a hit and quits, they replace it and yes I've talked to people who Progressive did exactly that. Saved their rigs entire electrical system by sacrificing the EMS, so instead of new AC and fridge, they just called Progressiveband got a new one shipped free. I made my decision based on lots of reading. Because it is a electrical management system, it protects not just against surges but against low voltage or brown outs. You plug it in first and turn on breaker at box, and let the EMS check the power. If it gives you the ok code, then you shut off breaker, plug your cord into the EMS then turn breaker on ,knowing someone at the park didn't miswire the box and all is ok, because the EMS checked it.

I also had the Progressive EMS-LCHW50. I had it hardwired into my rv. Wouldn't be without it. The EMS system rather than just the surge protector was the way to go for me. It was not cheap. But if something happens they replace it.

Was once in a park that got hit during an electrical storm. The guy next to me, in his VERY expensive Class A, and I had been talking about my "expensive" surge protector and his "cheaper' one. Well, when the electric pole got hit by lightening ALL his stuff was fried. Mine was fine except for the surge protector. Now which one was more expensive?

I have also paid for the Progressive model. I like that it reads out what the current is in a campground. Normal for a 30 amp plug is often some where in the 222-224 range. In the hot summer at older parks you might find some running 117….. I keep my eyes on it. I have unplugged at dog shows when the grid is over loaded and chosen to run my generator rather than stressing the compressors on the equipment in the rig. I think of it like purchasing insurance. You hope you never need it.

Looks like the advice is unanimous, so I will order the Progressive one.

Thanks all.
