Magical Mazatlan

Postby asirimarco » Thu Feb 11, 2021 9:54 am

Just thought I'd share some photos from one of the plazas in Mazatlan. There were very few people there so it was easy to get photos. Carnaval has been cancelled in Mazatlan for the first time in 123 years so the city decorated this plaza;

Thank you for the photos Carol. Looks very festive whether there are many people or not. Did the the event start 123 years ago or was it cancelled back then for some reason.

The first Mazatlan carnival was 123 years ago and has been celebrated every year since then, until this year.

Carnaval is Mazatlan's version of Mardi Gras in New Oleans. They are only up until the day before Ash Wednesday.
