Fried Chicken

I don't eat much chicken these days. I think I just got tired of it.

Unfortunately, I am getting hungry for fried chicken. Trying to remember, I don't think I have made fried chicken in maybe 20 years or so, and am not sure I remember how - of course, roll it in flour and put it in the pan, that sort of thing - but if I am going to go to the trouble, I would like something really tasty.

Does anyone have an easy fried chicken recipe they would like to share? I'm going to splurge and say that calories don't count on this one.

On the other hand: I'm chicken when thinking about making fried chicken. Cluck. :lol:

I've not fried chicken in forever either but a lot of video's that I've watched tell you to soak the chicken
in buttermilk for a period of time... then dredge in season flour and fry ... I am sure that you will get lots of

I can't help. I've made it, but not for years and never will again. I give my mother kudos for the best fried chicken and the hours it took to make it. My sister and I talked about this just last week. She, also, hasn't made it in years for the same reason. Good luck to you.

(I have considered looking at air fryer recipes for it, but haven't gone that far yet.)

Hrm. It's starting to sound like a bit of a process. I'm not into high-effort cooking these days, and I don't have an air fryer.

I used to make really good fried chicken. I fried it in bacon grease, the same way my Mom made it. A heart attack special for sure. But I suppose all fried chicken is as well.

Morning Anne! You should be able to do fried chicken (4-5 pieces) in about 45 minutes from the assemble stuff to eat it hot. I put a rough how to do it in the recipe section. I grew up cooking without doing much measuring except for cakes and pies and I pretty much only do 3-2-1 cake in a cup now and fried pies. So I don’t have any measurements it’s always a sight thing putting it together. It takes longer to gather all the stuff and there isn’t much of that, than to cook. The actual in the skillet to the plate is like normalLy less than 25 minutes, depending on how much you are cooking. A whole chicken it will take longer cause you have more pieces. Alright, check it out and pop up questions that you have. Ought to do mashed potatoes and gravy with hot biscuits and honey while you are at it!

Ok, you all are making me hungry. lol I can't remember the last time I fried chicken. The deli at the grocery store has better fried chicken than I could ever make. I don't really like Popeye's chicken, too greasy. Kentucky Fried Chicken places are making a come back in this area. I don't find their chicken is as good as it use to be. Since I was going back through town at supper time last week I noticed you couldn't get in any of the fast food places except KFC. Guess I'm not the only one that doesn't like their food.

I haven't eaten wheat products in probably a decade because of symptoms, but best fried chicken memories are at the big kitchen table at my Grandpa and step grandmas ranch table. They raised table grapes for raisins, but always had a pig or two, a cow, a steer for beef, and chickens plus a big garden and grandma made the best fried chickens. I can easily recall platters of chicken,, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and the best homemade chunky applesauce. There was one place outside of Stockton, on HWY 99, called Pollardville, where they served family style chicken dinners, which was a close second. I really don't eat chicken often anymore except wings, and am thinking of getting an air fryer just for the wings.

OMG. You have got my mouth watering, Big Time. Fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, applesauce - all my faves. :lol:

I remember driving by Pollardville many times. Didn't ever stop there, though. Probably I should have!
