Spammers - and Dealing with Them

OK, looks like we had our first person slip past the membership that was a spammer. Now, I'd like to remind everyone here - it's going to happen again. And when it does, take the high road.

First, if you think it's a spammer, do not react to them or the post, but pm or email me. If you think it's a spammer, but you aren't sure - feel free to respond nicely to greet the person. Believe me, if they are a spammer, they will quickly hang themselves or they'll simply disappear into the woodwork and never respond again.

I turn down way more memberships than I approve - but only if I can be positive by the email address or the username or something, that they aren't legit. Occasionally someone is going to slip through and show their true colors. But, please, let's not lower ourselves to their level.

I'm hoping to have someone else soon who will be able to remove someone if they are spammers - and when they are removed, so are their posts and responses to their posts. Keep an eye out for a post with the name of another forum sister who offers to help out.
