A Day in Rockport, TX

Postby retiredhappy » Wed Mar 18, 2009 4:00 pm

Yesterday Sparkle, Carole and I spent the day in Rockport, shopping. I went Flamingo crazy (pics later) and am now back in rehab.

This shark was outside one of the stores.

Would someone please tell me what an ape statue has to do with "Fine Jewelry"?

Where we had lunch; we found Elvis.

We've all decided to take flying lessons.

Note the starting time - right after the bars close.

Another unknown bird. Where is Birdie when you need her?

From the color and the wingspan on the flyers I would say they are pelicans. Not sure about the gulls.

The bottom picture looks like an albatross to me.....as in the Rhyme of the ancient Mariner...."with my crossbow, I shot the albatross."

What I want to know, is who was flying that plane?  No lessons for me from the person who did that  ;) :o
Another thing, is the sexy poster of Elvis still there? I think you all are having just too much fun, and gosh, I'm not there.

Keep the pics coming, love seeing what you crazy bunch are up too, makes my day.

Safe travels to all,

Keep the entertainment coming....we love it. And if you have any second thoughts, just forget them and keep going.....you have an excuse...you have to post for the "house/job" locked. (That is like "land locked: only different!) Thanks...

Karen, your unknown birds are quite well known. Bunches of sisters have already looked em over and ID'd em. Yes the two flying away are brown pellies, and the gull I would hazard a guess at 1st year Herring, but I reserve the right to be way wrong. I'd love for it to be a shearwater, but it is out of place and would never let humans get that close. (I didn't see any bumps on its lips either) It is a very large gull compared to the adult laughing gull next to it. The Herring takes about 4 years to maturity. Most 'not mature' gulls are larger than 'mature' gulls.

Sorry, it took so long to get here. Had difficulty accessing a decent speed up at the farm (couldn't get to the forum) and now I am home I have to do chores, unlike some of your blessed traveling ladies who get to go see EP, take night flying lessons and generally gad about. But I'll catch up with ya, soon. Sounds like Rockport was fun even if the RV Park didn't Rock and you guys got flaminco'd, again! Dang I hate it when that happens and I am not part of it.
