Happy New Year

Just wishing each of you a Happy New Year. Hope 2019 is a kind and gentle year for all of us.

Tonight it will be just my two sons, one girlfriend, and me sitting around the coffee table full of finger food while watching the Times Square party on t.v. At 9:00 I'll turn the channel to CNN and we'll watch the ball drop in live time in New York and we'll all probably be sleeping by the time the idiots start shooting off guns in the air at midnight here in Southern California!

My New Year's Eve hint: Write "2019" on the year line for the next 2 or 3 checks in your checkbook. That way you won't mess up and write the wrong date and it will ease you into always writing the correct date!

I'll second that! Oh my goodness, I had totally forgotten that tonight is New Year's Eve.

I will probably do a grocery store run later this morning, then tuck into the couch for an evening-long cuddle with Big Joe before it gets dark. Definitely staying off the roads this evening.

Nothing else planned. New Year's Eve (nor New Year's Day) has never been much of a holiday for me. It has always seemed to me just to be a night for young people to consume too much alcohol, and to maybe go out and do stupid things. Not my thing.

Here's hoping the idiots in my immediate neighborhood don't set off too many fireworks and guns. The loud bangs gets my poor Joe to climbing the walls. Won't be doing my usual, daily, after-dark mile plus walk with Joe this evening, either.

Still basking in the memories of this Christmas just passed, and hoping for more joyful Christmases in the future.

Stay safe, everyone.

Best wishes for a happy new year - not the usual shallow holiday wish, but a sincere wish from me to all of you for happiness, joy and new adventures in the coming year.

Anne

Good morning. Hope everyone has a great New Years eve planned no matter what you will be doing. I will be snuggled on the couch with Emma to see the ball drop in New York at 9pm on CNN, works for me. I dont like to be on the roads anywhere near this holiday. I remember years ago we used to get together with the neighbors and play cards and have a couple of adult beverages, but no one had to drive and no one over indulged. Where I live now ha ha we are all tucked in by 10pm or earlier.

Finished my 1 room at a time deep house cleaning. The windows are sparkling in my dining room and now when I look out I can see the fog perfectly LOL My ceiling fan/bulbs are also now clean. I am doing the living room now and am amazed at the cobwebs I just didnt see. Will do those windows tomorrow. (5 of them) I have a full wall bookshelf on both sides/desk that also houses my 55" tv. I have lots of knick knacks on the shelves from my travels over the years that I am afraid require disting. My new motto: No more knick knacks. I usually just do a few hours work each morning and then have lunch and done for the day unless I am super motivated LOL

Emma and I are off for a walk in the fog

New Year's Eve and my family usually played cards/games. One year when I was young my father decided on New Year's Day to invite everyone they knew over. This was long before any stores were open... So Mom pretty much emptied out the fridge and cabinets for food. And that was the start of our annual New Year's Day party.

Happy New Year all.

Happy new year from me, also. I am hoping for a very dull and relaxing upcoming year--fewer RV repairs, no more tire blowouts, no more hitting runaway truck tire treads on the freeway, no more parts falling off as I drove, and slides and other operating parts behaving themselves as they are meant to operate! Plus, I am hoping that all of my medical situations resolve themselves and no more surprises pop up!

And, obviously, I wish those things for all of us on this forum! The best of life and luck to us all! 8-)
