Had a pretty good view of the shuttle launch from my house this evening…
Separation of the 2 rocket boosters
Colorful contrail
The contrail was visible for a long time

Apparently it was a pretty good view from most anywhere in Florida. I'm in central FL, and Lori was closer, but my brother said he could see it from his house on the west coast (Venice area) too. It would be nice to actually be close enough to see it lift off the launch pad, but with only a few more missions left, it probably won't happen.

Thanks for sharing the launch photos. My late husband would have been impressed that you captured the booster separation. He worked on the solid rocket booster program for years. When watching a launch on TV with him as soon as those boosters successfully separated, the mission was over as far as he was concerned and click to change channel. We were fortunate enough to be there for one of the night launches; it was spectacular.

Liz did you know the teacher from Ocala that is on this flight? She has got quite an adventure ahead of her. My understanding is that she will be docked at the space station for 10 days. This has got to be an awesome trip for her. Think of all the classes she can teach.

I didn't know the teacher, but understand he taught science in Dunnellon.
