My Leased Lot

About 2 1/2 years ago I put myself on the waiting list for a lot at the Escapees Saguaro park in Benson, AZ. Every now and then I'd try for a lot that came available, to no avail. I didn't want a lot with an expensive casita... I wanted, preferably, one with a bare bones (small, basically storage) or an empty lot. Without going into details about how their list works, yesterday I called in to put my name in on two available lots. At the proper time I called back and had my choice of either. Yay! Both had small casitas... I elected to take the one with the smallest one. So when the paperwork is done and they receive my payment, I'll be the new owner of this leased lot.

Inside was turned from all storage to a small room... I figure when there I could have a little sitting room. The only thing I intend to do is paint the paneling a light color.

and the tiny storage room left:

I love this part of Arizona, but for now doubt I'll spend much time here. I'll keep the lot in the rental pool and most years that should cover all the lots expenses. I'll visit from time to time :)

Great move. I'm sure it will be a good money maker when the snow flies in the north. Maybe some of the gals from the forum will want to rent it. Congrats on getting it.

Good for you, Beth! Persistence pays off! The patio and little building look practically new - in great condition.

Congrats Beth. I bet I walked by that lot last December as the dogs and I covered the whole park.

Very nice. Eventually, I would like to do something like this. I currently hold a membership in a campground here in the Pacific Northwest. It allows units that are not self contained. If and when I do this, I will have to replace my teardrop with a self contained unit. Dreaming of becoming a snow bird...Spring and Summer in PNW, Fall and Winter in the Southwest.

Is there an annual fee? Would you mind sharing how much that is?

Enjoy.

First, I, personally, can't rent the lot. I can put it in the parks rental pool. Everyone in the pool shares the proceeds with the park for any month their site is in the pool more than so many days, whether their site is used or not. Renters do not have access to the casitas. Since I prefer the fringe seasons, fall and spring, in the area, mine will probably be in the pool during the busiest winter season.

As to dues, I can't find my paper with what they were the last two years. I'll get back to you. I was ok with them, and we all know how frugal I am. And because, at this time, I'm planning to be in the rental pool most of the winter, I'm hoping most of my dues will be covered. Being a co-op, the dues are refigured each year based on actual expenses. Being a co-op, every resident helps when there, also, which keeps costs down as well.
