Baking without using the stove oven.

I want to bake cookies/muffins. Roast a small meat roast (about 3 lbs), roast a chicken, bake bacon in a pan, make paleo crackers. All the things I can't do in a crockpot, electric skillet, and microwave. I looked into an electric roaster, but the literature and reviews said they got super hot (bad for counters and living) and they all seemed to be giant size. At least giant for my available counter space- even using the stovetop for space.

I don't want to use my gas oven or stovetop for cooking. The propane goes down superfast for just using it to power the fridge traveling down the road. I think I have a leak, but two RV service centers cant find it.

What do you ladies use when you want to bake or roast?

Thank you for your input :)

The stove oven and gas range don't use much propane. Neither does the fridge. The furnace is a propane hog.

But if you want otherwise I'd suggest a toaster oven or replacing your microwave with a microwave/convection oven.

I think you should address your possible propane leak ASAP. Do you have a monitor and if so any idea of when it was last checked to see if working? Until you get it checked again and know your monitor is working I would not leave your propane on while you are driving!

As to an oven option, I love my Cuisinart toaster oven, it bakes as well as my big oven and can fit up to a 12" skillet or baking dish. Mine does have the convection but I never use that option. It makes great toast. It is rated #5 on this list.

You could also consider a hot plate if you don't want to use the stove top.

I cook and bake a lot, and unless it is extremely cold outside and I have to run my furnace all the time, I can go 6-8 weeks on 10 gallons of propane. Plus I always leave my refrigerator running while I drive. I agree that the problem must be a leak. There must be someone who can find it--maybe a propane company???

Take your rig to the local fire station and ask them to use their sniffer and see if they can find a leak...

I like the idea of taking the rv to a fire station. I will try to locate one and see if I can get in and out of the lot easily. I know the furnace is a propane hog, but I don't use the furnace on gas. Only for powering the fridge while driving. I will look into that toaster oven to see if it will roast the foods I want. Removing and replacing the big microwave with its built in vent and fan and light seems like a bigger job than I want to take on right now. I think a series of root canals without novocaine equates to the pain involved.
Thanks for your input.

I use my oven and stove a lot...and in the winter my fridge is on propane...I would think having it checked would be the way to go
as to replacing the microwave if you have a vent as part of the microwave it will be an expensive venture or at least that is what my
husband told me when the motor on the turn table went out...it maybe different now...
