another question...

the little latches that hold the outside bin doors open are broken so I bought some new ones. Then I went to take the old ones off but discovered the screws have square holes. So I dug around my tool box and low and behold, I found a square attachment for my screwdriver! So I remove the old latch only to discover it is being held on also by a soft padding behind it of some sort. I imagine that is to keep water from getting in the screw holes.
I have no idea where to get that padding piece that goes on the back of the latches or what it even is. Anyone have any ideas? It is about 1/4 inch thick, maybe a little less.

I just replaced one of mine, it was a putty stuff, bug if I had to improvise
I would cut one from an old mouse pad, or call a RV parts place and ask
for gasket material

What kind of putty? Was watching some Youtube videos and none of them used anything with the latch. I tried to put the new one on without anything behind it but the screws were too long.

It's called Butyl Tape. Any rv dealer sells it by the roll. I always keep some in my trailer.
