Hi-
I am trading in my fifth wheel for a smaller manageable Shasta or Lance. Something I can pull with the van I currently own. Very lightweight. I am feeling good with this decision as I explored ALL the options before landing here.

So onto my question. I noticed some of the new ones have a separate shower! In other words, I can get one with the toilet not inside the shower. Course it costs more. Opinions? I think it may be worth it, but it is a lot of money. I have never had a toilet inside the shower before as I had a man with a truck and we could pull much more weight. (man and truck are no more.) The weight my van can pull is very limited. So should I go w the separate shower? Would it be that much better like it is in my mind?

I see you did an edit after I posted my original reply, eliminating your bit about trading in your 5th wheel to a dealer and thus being required to buy new because your 5th wheel was a dealer trade-in.

Without your bit my reply kind of doesn't make sense, so I have added this disclaimer above my original post for clarification.

There are used travel trailers all over the map. Many dealers stock new, as well as used, units on their lot.

I understand your circumstances of needing to trade in to a dealer, and not being comfortable with selling your unit yourself. That's pretty much me.

On the other hand, if your chosen dealer doesn't stock used units. . . keep looking for another dealer. There are dealers that stock new as well as used units all over the map as well.

Check Craig's List and RV Trader. Many dealers advertise used (as well as new) units on these venues.

Checking Craig's List and RV Trader would be an easy way to locate dealers and get phone numbers of those that work with used as well as new units.

Several ladies on this forum have "traded up" their used unit to a different used unit at a dealership.

Its really personal preference but I wouldn't like it and do know
someone that had that in a road trek and her hallway kept getting flooded. She hated it.

What Ava said. Personal preference. Also may depend on where you plan to park and how comfortable you are with campground showers.

Most of the people I know who have a "wet" shower don't really use it. They use campground showers instead. My problem with it would be having to wipe down the walls and toilet or have to sit on a wet surface. Same problems with guests--too much mess. However, a can see where a wet shower might be better than no shower at all, but that is just me.

If I was going to a small unit and that meant a wet shower, it would be doable for me. No shower would not as I prefer to use my own, not cg showers. If getting one with a dry bath would still give you the storage at a good price point, I'd consider it my first choice. But not if the price was considerably more or it meant trading too much storage away. One of the ladies on the forum, currently workamping with me, recently traded her larger Class A for a small B with a wet bath. Downsizing for storage has so far been the most difficult, and she's taller, so the lower bathroom ceiling is something she's having to learn to work with. But wiping down the walls is no more work than what I have in my shower.

As said, this would really be personal preference. I'm good with a wet bath but do not like the bath extended into the hallway.

Well, I'm the one who does what others say no to - like full-timing in a truck camper. My previous camper had a wet bath, but at the time it was just my 'summer' rig. I sometimes used campground showers if they passed my inspection, but that was mainly due to small grey/black tank (yes shower and toilet drained into same tank). Would I like a wet bath in a Road Trek? - no because they are way too confining.

There should be enough of a lip at the doorway to keep the water in the bathroom! That means you step up over it (not just stub your toe on it) to enter the bathroom.

Make sure about the holding tank - you don't want black and grey in same tank (mine was in a Lance) - I doubt you'll find that in what you are looking at, but just in case.

With a wet bath, you basically sit on the toilet lid to do most of your shower. Then have a squeegee to dry everything off - the bathroom, not you.

Is it ideal? No, but it is certainly doable and not as bad as it sounds. Make sure you feel there's enough elbow room - can you comfortably use the handheld shower?

Have wet bath on our Leisure Travel van. Both hubby and I use it when traveling. Like Beth, I just don't like campground bathrooms if I can help it. It's never been a problem to give a quick wpe down after, no more than I'd do if I had dry bath. We have pretty small tanks (9 gal black, 27 gal grey) so its better to have hookups when we shower but we have been where we isn't and learned to do super quick Navy showers ( uh we both were sailors)!
But if I get rid of the bus I will buy something with a dry bath and larger tanks for when we travel as a family. If it were just me I could be fine with the wet bath and was when Mel was,in the hospital a week fall of 2015 and summer of 2013. I let tank fill then pulled handle or handles every few days as needed as I had full hookups. Because of hookups I was not really conservative with water but could get two showers plus hand washing and dishes per grey tank.

I like have a shower seperate. No wet toilet etc. or having to watch the lip going in and out off the bathroom. Bathroom is more open when they are seperate.

Like Annie said, there are used trailers all over the map. I found mine by searching dealer websites from this area and spreading out from there. I was looking for a specific brand, so as being more picky. Found mine at a dealer, 90 miles away. Liked the layout, wanted a slide to give the dogs and I more room and the bathroom laout with vanity, shower and toilet is just right. If. A dealer has a trailer with a wet bath, go it in it and see what you think. That will help you right there.
