Oroville Dam update

Noon news. The road across the auxiliary spillway leading to a parking area had completely washed away during the run over event down that dirt spillway. Overnight they built a completely new road leading to the eroded areas. They finished with dropping one ton loads of large rock and have been dumping sand. Next step is they set up a huge crane type pumper and we watched as some of the first cement trucks arrived to begin laying concrete over the rock to stabilize the areas of erosion. Rain expected by tomorrow night. Not as much ran as last weeks deluge, and more snow on higher slopes where last week rain level was higher melting snow. Water behind dam now down at least 12 ft with them trying to get it down 50 ft for future rain, snow melt and so they can inspect the back of the spillway. 50 ft sounds like a lot and it's a bunch of water but the dam when full last saturday was 902 ft of water ! They still are not telling people when they can go home.
Nice story. I live in Placer County and the county fairgrounds is here. In preparation for arriving and expected evacuees, they had asked for certain donations. Last night they realized they were low on pillows. An announcement went out over tv. They now have plenty of pillows but now need pillow cases! it's reported local Walmarts are now depleted of pillows! They ask, our area gives. Pretty neat.
