Question,,,,medicare

Postby avalen » Sat Oct 01, 2016 12:24 pm

Just wondering, since I'm going on Medicare soon and retiring of course,,,
Is there any health check ups I should get on my current insurance before
the switch? Say like stuff Medicare doesn't pay for?

Will you have a supplemental insurance in addition to Medicare?

There are, health checks which Medicare specifically covers for new enrollees which are no copay at all. I can't give you a list but your Dr should know. You have a supplement lined up? Might google Medicare new enrollee exams.

I do have the c & d part lined up. And according to the guy I talked to it will cost me
$0, nada because I'm basically healthy. Hopefully that part is true cause I hate
when shit happens you didn't plan on. ;-/

Do some more research. Lots of good info at Medicare.gov. You need to be signed up for Medicare Part A (free) and Medicare Part B ($120.00/mo.). Parts C and D generally cost as well.

You might also wish to purchase Medigap insurance.

Maybe you are covered under your union for this.

There are many ways to go on this.

I don't take anyone's word on anything, because they generally just want my signature on the dotted line, and will say anything to get it there. Get it in black and white, printed. Read it. Then decide.

Good luck.

Also make sure you do NOT have an Advantage plan for C and D unless you plan to stay in one place. Most of them use local networks. If you travel you want something good in every state. I have the most expensive from United Health Care and just ran up roughly $25,000 worth of tests and procedures and have no copayment so it just paid for all my C premiums for next ten years or so!!!

Judy, I have chosen the Medicare advantage, but they now offer
a package where you can use any doctor in other states and no referrals
required for specialist however that one has a $10 copay. I don't like
have to wait for referrals, I would rather pay the $10, and be done
with the appt.
