Route 66

Postby BarbaraRose » Thu Sep 01, 2016 7:57 pm

I am planning to follow Route 66 from Oklahoma City to Flagstaff, AZ on my way to Phoenix.

Would like any suggestions of places to see/visit along the way from those of you who have driven it. I have been reading books about it and have some ideas but would like to know what is really worth seeing and what isn't.

Thanks!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

What a great start to the new adventure! I haven't driven it, so I'll be watching for your posts. Have fun!

Explore Tucumcari, NM eat dinner at Del's
small town just east of Albuquerque NM has a section of 66 that sings. you have to drive exactly 45mph over the rumble strips and it sound like it is singing America the Beautiful http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2014/10/route-66-adds-singing-road-as-speeding-deterrent/

Thanks Carol! I will have to look into that singing road! I already have Tucomcari on my list of places to explore!
