Interesting Liz. I love old towns like that. I liked the reference to Italian terrazzo at Hoover Dam. As a kid my family worked together to build our house on the hill in Cupertino, CA. My dad learned all about terrazzo from the Italians and as a family we poured terrazzo in our entire house. From ages 11 to 14, I measured on a baby scale every marble chip of each color that went into the terrazzo mix for each room. There was a formula for each room and each color was measured by weight according to the formula my dad devised. Once it was set, my dad ground and smoothed it to a beautiful shine and smoothness with a grinding machine he designed and built himself in the NASA workshop. The floors were radiant heated making them warm to walk on in cooler temps. Thanks for bringing the memories back.
