Robbery

Postby bluepinecones » Sun May 22, 2016 6:45 pm

Devastated and broken hearted are the only words I can think of right now. I went to CG to do a couple of things in preparation of moving Magic to a new location and discovered someone had broken in. They took almost everything from inside as well as outside storage bins. Plus they trashed what they left by scattering it every where. They even took the windshield wiper blades!
I filled a police report and just got off phone with insurance company. Don't know anything yet since weekend. Who ever will be handling claim will call tomorrow and I cannot get police report before Tuesday.

since they trashed it you perhaps should check to make sure that they didn't put anything in the gas tanks ect before starting it up.
and am so sorry that this happened... (((((((hugs)))))

So sorry this has happened. Not only all the damage the thieves did but the fear that you carry. Hope your insurance can get Magic back to where she was.

The CG where Ive always kept Magic when not traveling is part of a large city park which includes a big marina and lots of acreage. City is planning a multimillion dollar upgrade to the park including a new campground out of the area that tends to flood. They had already announced that they will be closing the current CG but have not set date yet; they have discontinued the monthly rates so the few regular campers I knew in have already moved out. I was planning to move out next week. The manager who had been there for over 30 years also retired the last of April. He was also an RVer and kept his 5th wheel there and did an outstanding job watching over things including my rig.
In the 3 years I've used this CG there have been no problems. However the policewoman who took my report today said it was the 4th incident they had been call for within the past week - 2 in CG and 1 in marina this morning (big house boat broken into) and some vandalism on memorial benches along a pathway.

I'm still having a hard time trying to concentrate and organize list of missing items. Know the rig itself is well insured but not at all sure about contents since I'm not full time.

We were told our house insurance would cover our personal items in our rv since we were not full time. Ask your house insurance carrier if the rv policy does not cover. So sorry this happened. Magic has not had good luck lately.
Sending hugs

How horrible and sorry to hear about this. Probably just punks thinking its something fun to do and to steal what they can to sell. But taking things like wiper blades tells me they are just plain old jerks. Karma will catch up with them sooner or later. Thank God for insurance. Thats why we have it but hopefully it wont affect your rates too much.

Sarah, I'm sorry you have to go through this. Such a waste. It's hard to fathom why they would do something like that for such little gain and a life time of consequences. Stupid decision on their part because they will be caught.

Sarah- So sorry to hear about what happened -- I would also suggest you contact your homeowners insurance concerning your personal property in the trailer. I move stuff from my home to my trailer and back, so under my policy it is covered. So it is possible that some of yours may be covered, however there would also be a deductible if coverage applies. But they could tell you more with a phone call. I hope there is no actual damage to your trailer.
