Linda (Rufflesgurl) and I have been staying in the Escapees Park of the Sierra just outside Yosemite Nat'l Park. Yosemite is especially popular this year due to the ample rain and snow California received this winter after four years of drought. We drove into the park and headed first to Glacier Point - elevation 3,000' above Yosemite Valley.

View of Half Dome. After Memorial Day people can get one of a limited number of permits each day to climb up the cables on the far side of the dome to the top.

Great photos, Sandi! Lucky you, Glacier Point wasn't open yet when I was up there!

Nice post and pictures Sandi. It was so gorgeous at Yosemite. Did you post about our hike to the Lower Falls where we got a nice "shower" from all the falls' spray?
Enjoy the rest of your stay in Coarsegold!!

OK Linda, your wish is my command. Linda and I hiked to Lower Yosemite Falls and got quite wet from the mist coming from all that water hitting the rocks. It doesn't really show in the picture, but I had to take pics quickly because the camera lens was getting wet so fast. And we got wetter when the wind kicked up.

How beautiful! I am really jealous. I went to Yosemite about three years ago in November. Warm and sunny when I got there, but next morning we had a ton of wet snow, which caused about 80% of the campground to empty out because the wet snow turned it into little streamlets and tenters were soaked. I stayed two more nights, but all the upper roads were closed and all I could see was the lower valley. And because it was so dry, even the waterfalls had dried up!

I should have been more on the ball and made reservations for early June of this year, but I completely forgot about it and now it is too late. Maybe next year.

You are really lucky to see the waterfalls looking so good and having the weather so nice!!

Thanks Sandi. You would never know it was so nice at Yosemite with all the snow on the mountains in the background.
