All de-winterized and ready to go.

I spent the morning getting my little rig ready to go for the season. I was relieved to find everything OK since last fall was my first time winterizing a camper by myself. So glad I had always helped my late husband do this stuff. I still miss camping with him after 2 years, but I know I'd miss not going at all worse. I've got some great friends to camp with. We're all retired teachers, and for the last 6 years, we've always camped in the middle of the week in April or May just because we can! We always let our friends back at school know what we're doing, too. How mean is that? Looking forward to a great camping season! Have fun everyone!

Well, Dee, I have to say that you have earned the right to be a little mean. ;)

Here I sit, in my classroom with 30+ sixth graders, while half of them are finishing state testing and I'm trying to keep the other half quiet. Luckily we have Chromebooks, so they don't have to go to the computer lab. The atmosphere is easier on them, and I don't get so tired either.

But I've got MAJOR spring fever. Weather is gorgeous, but will be getting hot, and I just want to be outside.

One more year, and I can do a little gloating too!

Enjoy!

Laura

Oh, how I remember the "joy" of those standardized test days. I taught 7th and 8th grade science for 37 years, and we had just gotten into the computerized testing when I retired. It sure worked better than the old fill in the bubble answer sheets (at least if the tech coordinator had everything set right), but we still had to travel to a computer lab. Don't miss those days or how antsy kids got on beautiful spring days.
When you retire, you'll love camping in the fall the most. In 2010, when my late hubby and I retired (he was a first grade teacher) I sent my school board a postcard from the north shore of Lake Superior thanking them for the early retirement package that made the gorgeous trip possible in Sept/Oct. Such beautiful fall color! And after years of going to national parks with crowds of kids, it 's such a pleasure to travel and camp after school has started.
Hang in there! You'll make it. In the meantime, try not to stare out the window too much. Those kids need your full attention.

Good for you, Dee.

I moved this to General Talk. I could either have merged it with the current morning thread or move it. Since there was action onit, I thought a stand alone thread best.

The first winter I retired from my regular job (not teaching), I was sitting on a beach in January thinking about how nice it was not to be shut up in an office. So, I took a photo of the ocean and beach and emailed it to all of my old friends!

It certainly IS fun to run it in just a tiny bit!
