Very interesting Liz. I had travertine floors in the lower part of my house for about ten years. It was beautiful. Because it was stone and so cold on the feet in the winter, I changed to hardwood. I still have it in my entry, 1/2 bath and around my fireplace. Would be great to see it in its original state like you did.

Another place to see in the near future, not far from me, and I'm having a blast discovering Arizona during this last year of working. My friend Bill will take me anywhere I want to go.

maybe what Sandi said is why it is a term I've heard travertine that is but sure didn't realize where it came from
what an amazing area...so interesting and so glad that it was you that hiked it....although the way I feel tonight I should
go on one of those hikes...
