Interesting place, but not so sure I would like some of that narrow road, although you did not seem to encounter traffic. Thanks for showing us and happy travels.

I really like that area, I have yet to do that dirt portion but I've wanted
to check out that burnt corral and cholla campgrounds. The water up at Roosevelt lake stays cool in the summer so its a popular place folks in town go to during the
hot summer to cool off. Roosevelt is where I first waterskied many years ago.

I drove that trail, but in a small rented car! Just a warning to NEVER try it in even a full-sized van as there are overhanging rocks. And, most people drive it clockwise, which makes it very unlikely you would see another car coming your way. In addition, the fact that it is dirt means no one drives very fast.
I highly recommend driving that at least once, but make it on a cool day. Gorgeous views and the road is really not horrible, just narrow in a few spots with overhanging rocks to avoid.
Can we nominate Liz as our member who goes to the neatest and most places?? She and a couple of noted others, also take the best photos.

It would be for me. Apache Junction where you would begin is on the east side of Phoenix. We spent several hours on the Apache Trail....due to the narrow dirt road and needing to go slow, plus stopping to take pictures and hike.
