Good Thoughts Appreciated - Update

Well, if there could be a he]] week, this would be it.

Tomorrow at 2:45 I will have my "meeting" with the Principal and our Union President regarding this crazy parent. I will be keeping my mouth shut and letting the President do all of the talking. She has reminded me several times that this will go nowhere, and that the Principal is basically digging herself into a hole. She's going to have it noted (since this whole thing will be written down) how the Principal will support me and prevent this father from having any further contact with me. This guy is a loose canon, and she's going to have her work cut out, trying to keep him in check.

Then (as if that's not enough), I will be observed on Thursday. This is my year for observation, and the date for her to watch me do my little dog-and-pony show was set long before last week. So I have a pre-observation meeting on Wednesday, formal observation on Thursday, and post-observation meeting after school on Thursday.

I'll be living on Pepcid between now and then.

Prayers, good thoughts, and anything else you can throw my way would really, really, really be appreciated.

I'll let you know if I survive.

Thanks.

Take a deep breath, you are going to do just fine. Just think of it as an opportunity to display your amazing skills.

you will do great remember the little train that thought he could?? it will be ok...before this incident I doubt that you

I'll be thinking of you. If it were me, the keeping my mouth shut would be the hardest part, so really good luck on that!

Just remember: This.is.the.last.year.you.have.to.do.that! And I agree with Colleen, it's another opportunity for you to demonstrate your superior teaching skills. Might as well show them what they'll be losing next year.

Just remember, they don't matter a bit. Only you and your students matter, everyone else is just justifying their work existence.

yes, me and my mouth would have a hard time on that, being quiet thing. Laura, you've been teaching how many years?, and doing all of these things, observation and such, how many years? This should be nothing for you to just breeze through. You have let this unstable dad get into your head and allowing him to win the battle. Forget him and just do your thing, that you are so good at, love so much and just teach your kids like you love to and forget everything else, especially him. He doesn't matter, doing what you want to for those kids is all that matters. One more year and you're done, so do your very best for these children you have now and that young man who is so unfortunate to have such a dad, he'll have him the rest of his life, poor kid.

Good Luck, I know you will do a good job, dig that confidence back out,

CArol :)

I will be thinking of you Laura. Knock one out of the park on Thursday! The longer I taught the less I worried about what others thought. I had worked as an administrator for 13 years before I went back into the classroom those last two years. (I had survived 4 Superintendents.) I knew what went on in other rooms and I knew what I had created in my classroom. Be confident in yourself (as much as any teacher can with students that teach us new things each day.... ) If they want it done another way, they can explain it to you....

And keep humming, "On the road again...."

I'll be thinking of you this week. It's a shame that both things are this week. You can handle it. Your experience will come shining through.

You are an amazing teacher. The students love you. All the other parents appreciate you. The President has your best interests at heart and your Principal will support you. This father is a bully. Every time you want to say anything at THE MEETING, just smile, take a deep breath and visiualize yourself in the RV relaxing. Your evaluation will go without a hitch. YOU WILL PREVAIL. HUGGGS
