Thomas Canyon, Ruby Mtns, Nevada

On my return trip from the Oregon GTG after visiting 6 states, I was coming back west from Salt Lake City and decided to take a chance and see if I would be lucky enough (without a reservation) to get a site at the Thomas Canyon CG in the Ruby Mtns. of northeast Nevada where forum member PattyK hosts every summer. This is a most beautiful forest service CG in the glacier-carved Thomas Canyon. In fact, they like to call it the "Yosemite of Nevada." I had the pleasure of meeting Patty there last year while on my way to the Kansas GTG and again in January in Q. Having arrived around 11:00 am on a Thursday, I lucked out and got a site for two nights. This place is so beautiful. It's located only 25 miles off I-80 from Elko, NV. I'm sure hundreds of people wiz by on the freeway everyday and don't know such a treasure is within an easy 30-minute drive. No wonder Patty loves her hosting job so much.
Here's what Patty gets to see every morning.
My site.
One of several creeks.
The creek behind my site and a little inspiration from one of Tina's photos of one of her campsites.
Glacial carving is very evident.
Such beauty so close. That's my rig through the trees.
