I have not had a chance to try this yet but as soon as I pick up some cheap mouthwash and beer I will be spraying around my little sitting area. However, I will be wearing something more than my undies while enjoying sitting outside. Would be nice if it worked on those nasty biting flies.

MOSQUITO YARD SPRAY Copy and Pasted from a friend: Big bottle Blue cheap mouthwash, 3 cups of Epsom salt, 3 stale 12 oz cheap beer....mix those three ingredients together until salt is dissolved... Spray anywhere you sit outside , around pools , will not harm plants or flowers... Mosquitoes gone from that area for apprx. 80 days.. I spray my deck all around my sitting areas twice a summer.. Go out and sit in underwear all time at nite and never get bit .. They leave that area you spray and will not come back.. Been using this mixture last 15 years.. It works.. Heard about this on a Paul Harvey segment years ago , that's how I was informed about it.. And it works well.. All my friends that have tried it can't believe it.. It works.. The stronger you mix the longer it last.. Mosquitoes and bugs hate it.. Nice mint smell...

Here is an article about it. Be careful with alcohol around plants. Otherwise seems ok.

Thanks for link, MandysMom. I copied the info and will try the suggestions. Will be careful about using the alcohol in the nursery where I volunteer. As far as standing water - within feet of my door is a canal leading out to a lake. The mosquito battle is never ending.

Sorry...but I wonder if the reason this guy is sitting outside in his underwear is because he drank the other three cans of cheap beer and not the effectiveness of the spray....... :? :o ;)

I can't help it...it's just the way I am.

The conference center where I volunteer has 0 tolerance for alcoholic beverages on campus, however, I have been given permission (off the record ;) ) to try this mosquito remedy. Buying beer and not being seen by someone who knows me will be a challenge. Now - question - can I buy just one bottle/can of cheap beer or do I have to buy a package deal? Need to get this experiment underway.

I don't drink beer so don't really know but would look for some single bottles or beg from a friend that does indulge? :?

Normally, you can buy beer singles at service stations, or convenience stores.

I wrote this recipe down somewhere and bought the mouthwash but haven't put it together yet. I would be interested to see if it works. At one of the parks we stayed at in Florida they didn't have mosquitoes but they had a big problem with gnats. I tried to make sure we didn't have any in the RV. I didn't want to bring any home.

Well somebody let me know if this works. I would certainly hate to waste three cans of my cheap beer and sit out in the yard in my underwear and still get bit up! :P

Sheila, Convenience stores usually sell tall boys single. They can be 16 ounce or 24 ounce.
