Recommendation for a Class C

I have a 2007 Lexington 23.5 Class C that I travelled the state of Michigan in last summer and loved the ease of handling. I'm thinking now that I might prefer a slightly (but not much) longer Class C with a real bed. Looking for manufacturers and models that have met your expectations. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I'm very happy with my approximately 26 foot 2014 Winnebago. Still smaller, but it has a sofa, dinette and rear corner bed.
It's on the more basic end of their line, but I expect it to be with me for many, many years.
All the manufacturers have plusses and minuses. There are a couple on the higher end, but were out of my reach financially.

Thor and Winnebago both put out a smaller Class A that are in the 26ft range...just to confuse you with more choices. They have some nice features that make good use of space.
With Class C's so much depends on your pocket book or what excellent finds you can get in the used RV market. I think the most important part is finding the floor plan, length, and storage options that suit you the best in a price range you can afford.

Thanks Bethers and Birdbybird for your responses. I have quite a bit of knowledge on 5rs but am not comfortable pulling. The As are nice but too high for me - I would be taking off the A/C unit in no time. Very comfortable with the little C. After DH left me, I traded our A for a 5r to live in and the C for travelling. I thought I had read somewhere - maybe here - that the Forest River Lexington was a good brand. So far I have been very satisfied with the quality and workmanship. Prefer to buy local in case there are problems but used Cs seem pretty scarce right now. Haven't checked Lazy Days yet. Would be happy with another Lexington but they stopped making this model so have to broaden my search. I thought Winnebago had a pretty good reputation. When I wanted to trade in our A I went to Camping World but all the salesman would show me was junk. Guess he thought being a woman I would be an easy sell. Bought the 5r and C from a dealer in Wildwood, FL. Left me with a very negative feeling about CW. Heard good and bad about CW and that probably applies to most any dealership. Let the buyer beware.

I just posted my 26' Itasca in the for sale thread. This is a high end Winnebago product with many upgrades. Check it out. I am in Sarasota.

Beautiful rig, Joan. I'm thinking in order to downsize from my 32' fifthwheel to a C I will need the bed over the cab for storage. At the same time I am thinking no one person needs all this stuff! Was planning to trade the 5r and C in for the new to me C. Concerned that I might not be able to sell them on my own. The logistics of accomplishing it all in an orderly fashion and not ending up homeless or taken advantage of in the process is rather overwhelming. If the trade in wasn't an issue I would definitely be coming to see you in Sarasota! Good luck selling it - someone will be getting a really nice rig.
