Question for Beth

I like to use the "View New Posts" link to keep up on the conversations here. Something I notice is that I will come to the site and see that there are maybe seventeen new posts and read maybe two of them on my lunch hour, then back to work. When I open the site again, there might be only three new posts, even though I have only read two of the original 17. I don't know what happened to the other 15 that I hadn't read, and was hoping to read later without the need to page through all of the various rooms.

Is there some setting of which I am unaware that will keep unread posts from disappearing from the "View New Posts" link?

Thanks.

Anne

I'm not Beth but I think I have your answer. It's new posts since were last online. So when you when you left and came back it reset the counter. You can try clicking on the unread posts.

You can try saving the page...and it should then open to same place you left off..when you get back to it...

Correct.

If y don't want that to happen, just open the forums with unread messages and then only click on messages you haven't yet read. Then only those will get marked read. It's how I do it.

Hi Anne,

Maybe try a different way to look for what you haven't read yet, but may depend on if you read the forums at specific times of day.

I read in AM, lunch and when I get home from work. I don't even log in the majority of the time. I just look for the times on the threads from the board index page and if the time is later than when I last read, I know there are updated or new posts.

Of course time may be off a bit. Time on the forum is off about an hour for me so I just base looking on when I last read.

To tell the truth, - I never really paid much attention to unread posts until you opened this thread.
